Pro-establishment lawmaker Priscilla Leung submitted letters of resignation on Monday to six panels after chairmanship elections for the committees concluded last Tuesday. Leung represents the pro-establishment Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong party.

The six she quit included the Panel on Financial Affairs, Panel on Economic Development, Panel on Development, Panel on Commerce and Industry, Panel on Housing, and Panel on Public Service.

In her resignation letters, she did not give her reasoning, but said that “please forgive me for any inconvenience caused.”

It is unknown whether her resignations were related to the chairmanship elections, in which panel members are allowed to vote.

The Legislative Council Secretariat also sent documents to lawmakers which mentioned that Civic Party’s Claudia Mo Man-ching had quit the Panel on Environmental Affairs, and her decision had been accepted by Chairman Tanya Suk-chong.

There are 18 panels and committees within the Legislative Council, with the largest committees having over 60 members. Leung’s names are still currently on the membership list for panels she has resigned from.
