The No. 8 storm signal continues to be in effect, as Typhoon Merbok makes landfall around Miris Bay.

Inter-island ferries remain suspended during the T8 signal.

Travellers with flights booked for Monday evening are advised to check their booking with airlines.
Cathay Pacific cancelled or delayed 27 flights to, and from, the city.
Rail and MTR bus services have been increased in response to heightened demand.
“[T]he maximum sustained winds recorded at Waglan Island, Green Island, Lau Fau Shan and Kai Tak were 82, 72, 53 and 46 kilometres per hour with maximum gusts 98, 89, 72 and 81 kilometres per hour respectively.” the Observatory said at 10pm.
Out-patient clinics are closed, though Accident and Emergency services will continue as normal.
During the T8 signal, the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in watersports.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected for the rest of the week as a trough of low pressure lingers over the south China coast.
