Tropical storm Merbok is set to move north-northwest towards the coast of Guangdong, and is expected to make landfall at around midnight Monday, according to the Observatory.

“Since the region of gale wind associated with Merbok is rather small, gale force wind will affect Hong Kong only when Merbok comes very close to the Pearl River Estuary,” the Observatory said.

It added that it may raise the T8 signal later on Monday.
