A new photography exhibition by the University of Hong Kong’s Department of Sociology features the stories of migrant women in Hong Kong, India, Nepal, Indonesia and the Netherlands.
The exhibition, “Visualising the Voices of Migrant Women Workers,” visualises their stories of journeys, work abroad and letters home as photography.
The participants include migrant sex workers, domestic workers, marriage migrants, refugees and victims of human trafficking.
The exhibition was based on a research project by Taiwanese-American filmmaker Vivian Wenli Lin for Voices of Women Media: “Visualising our Voices: Self-Made Audiovisual Media by Women from Social, Economic and Cultural Margins in the Era of Global Migration.”
“Visualising the Voices of Migrant Women Workers” runs at the University of Hong Kong from February 10 to March 5.
