Lawmaker Kenneth Leung Kai-cheong has fallen down in the Legislative Council chamber as lawmakers shouted and swore at each other during Wednesday’s confusion.
The shouting match occurred after Youngspiration lawmakers Yau Wai-ching and Baggio Leung Chun-hang barged into the chamber and requested that the president administer their oaths. The president refused and ordered security guards to remove them from the chamber.
Leung then engaged in a shouting match with pro-Beijing lawmaker Christopher Cheung Wah-fung, with both of them pointing fingers at each other and swearing. Several pro-democracy lawmakers present also joined in.
Financial Services sector lawmaker Christopher Cheung swore in Cantonese at Baggio Leung: “Drop dead and go to hell.”
In a clip from public broadcaster RTHK, after Leung exchanged swear words with Cheung, Cheung pounded the table. At the same time, Kenneth Leung joined in and told Cheung to sit down and stop swearing.
Cheung swore back and they continued pointing fingers at each other. Civic Party lawmaker Jeremy Tam Man-ho moved in to separate the two, but Cheung grabbed Kenneth Leung’s hand and accidentally fell.
He was not badly hurt and was able to continue participating in the meeting.
