An iconic banner from the pro-democracy 2014 Occupy protests was hung on Devil’s Peak near Lei Yue Mun at around 6am on Wednesday. The banner proclaims “we want real democracy” and includes the yellow umbrella, another symbol of the protests.

HK01 reported that the pro-democracy party League of Social Democrats was behind the move.

Wednesday is the second anniversary of the start of the protests, which lasted 79 days before protesters were cleared by the police. The banner is about six feet by 20 feet, according to local media.

In August, Joshua Wong Chi-fung and Nathan Law Kwun-chung, the faces of the movement, were sentenced to 80 hours and 120 hours of community service respectively, while Alex Chow Yong-kang received a three week jail term with a one year suspension. The Department of Justice lost an appeal to seek immediate jail terms for the three last Wednesday.
