A No.3 alarm fire ripped through Yau Ma Tei’s wholesale fruit market at around 4:24pm on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters used six jets, two turntable ladder monitors and three breathing apparatus teams to tackle the blaze. It was under control by 8:06pm.

No injuries or casualties have been reported. At least ten stalls were damaged, according to iCable.

Surrounding roads were closed as a performance at the nearby Yau Ma Tei theatre has been cancelled.

The market, founded in 1913, is classed as a grade two historical building. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
