The Labour Party’s chairwoman Suzanne Wu Sui-shan – who is running for election in the Kowloon East constituency – has announced that she will suspend her campaign to boost the chances of other pan-democratic candidates in the constituency.
She said that she hoped voters will support other pan-democrats in the constituency, so that they can win three seats out of five. The Labour Party has accepted her request to suspend the campaign.
Suzanne Wu was polling at two per cent according to the latest poll conducted by the University of Hong Kong’s Public Opinion Programme.
Other candidates who are considered pan-democrats in the constituency include the Civic Party’s Jeremy Tam Man-ho, the Democratic Party’s Wu Chi-wai, The Frontier’s Tam Heung-man and People Power’s Tam Tak-chi.
Jeremy Tam and Wu are projected to win their seats, who are polling at 16 and 14 per cent support respectively. Tam Tak-chi was at six per cent support, while Tam Heung-man was at two per cent, both will be unable to win a seat.
The legislative election will take place on Sunday. Full candidates lists across districts and constituencies can be viewed here.
