The Hong Kong Observatory said on Wednesday that it may consider raising Strong Wind Signal No. 3. The Standby Signal No. 1 is currently in effect as a tropical depression in western Guangdong moves further west away from Hong Kong, intensifying as it goes.

It said that the typhoon was about 210 kilometres southwest of Hong Kong at 1pm on Wednesday.

The No. 3 signal is issued when strong wind is blowing or expected to come and when it maintains speeds of 41-62 kilometres per hour. The wind is expected to persist and gusts may exceed 110 kilometres per hour.

The nine-day forecast of weather in coming days show that rainy and cloudy weather will continue until next Friday, and temperatures will vary between a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius.
