The government announced that morning and full day classes were cancelled at 6:57am as the red rain signal was hoisted from 6:55am to 8:35am. The amber signal replaced the red rain signal at 8:35am and was taken down at 10:10am as the thunderstorm warning continues to stay up.
The Special Announcement on Flooding in the Northern New Territories was hoisted at 6:40am and was taken down at 9:45am.

In May, the government’s late announcement that classes were cancelled drew criticism as many said that their kids had already gone to school in the heavy rain. Many were only notified that classes were cancelled as they reached school.

Rainy weather is forecast to continue until next Thursday, and weather will be “very hot” on Monday.
