Human rights activist Jin Zhongqi is being sought by Beijing police after allegedly fatally stabbing two security officers and wounding another at a Beijing bus station on Monday night. The authorities issued a Class A wanted person notice for Jin on Tuesday with a RMB 50,000 reward.
A Class A warrant means that the police view him as a serious suspect. Jin is a rights activist for the Hui minority in China and has long since been under the watch of the police.
According to Chinese media outlet Legal Evening News, the police said that people should contact the police immediately, if they encounter him, and make preparations to protect their personal safety.
A Weibo account attributed to Jin shows him claiming that he was bothered by the police before the incident. He said that he lived in unit 3002 on the 11th floor of his apartment while the police and other “stability maintaining” personnel occupied units 3003 and 2902.
In his latest post, dated last Saturday, he also said that there were police monitoring him under the guise of a couple, and they “did not rest on holidays or festivals.”
