The Observatory issued the Very Hot Weather Warning at 11:45am on Tuesday with temperatures hitting 33 degrees celsius in some parts of the city.
“An anticyclone aloft is bringing generally fine and very hot weather to the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea. Locally, temperatures over parts of the territory rose to about 33 degrees around noon,” the Observatory said.
The city will continue to swelter into the weekend when rain is expected.
During Very Hot Weather Warnings, the HKO advises residents to avoid over exertion, drink plenty of water and avoid prolonged exposure under sunlight.
