A Shanghai metro passenger confronted a man who appeared to be taking upskirt photos of fellow passengers on Sunday. “Shanghai is a society with rule of law!” he said.

The man reportedly waited under escalators and held his cell phone at an angle to take the pictures, according to state media outlet People’s Daily.

The passenger who caught him in the act took his phone and refused to give it back. “Call the police,” he said to passersby. Turning to the man he said “…Why do I have to give it [back] to you?”

“This is the evidence, shame on you! Your behavior disgraced all men,” he said.

During the confrontation, the man looked down and covered his face. According to the newspaper, the suspect was later detained by the police.
