A 17-year-old held a knife to his neck at his home in Ngau Tau Kok on Friday. His mother called the police, who spent around two hours speaking to the teenager, Ming Pao reported. The student was then sent to hospital for a check up.
It is unknown whether the incident was related to the HKDSE English examinations on Friday morning.
The HKDSE, Hong Kong Diploma for Secondary Education, is effectively the university entrance examination in Hong Kong. The exam is divided into three categories, including 24 senior secondary subjects, applied learning subjects and other language subjects.
Dumbbell incident
Also on Friday, a Form Five student was sentenced to 15 months of probation after throwing dumbbells and magazines out the window at his Tseung Kwan O home on the 32th floor. The objects dented the playground surfacing at his estate. The judge said in the verdict that stress was not an excuse.
