Orient Thai Airlines has cancelled all of its flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok for ten days starting next Wednesday. Over 2,000 passengers across 100 tour groups have been affected.
It is expected that flights will resume on March 20.
According to Oriental Daily, there airlines operates one aircraft, a Boeing 747 which carries 485 passengers, between Hong Kong and Bangkok. Damage to the aircraft was detected and all flights were cancelled due to safety reasons.
The Executive Director of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong Joseph Tung told local media that affected travellers should ask their travel agencies for alternatives. He added that the cancellation was unavoidable and it was not within the control of agencies.
