First Night Boston: Round-up of festivities from parade to puppets with fireworks on top

Fireworks once again will light up the sky as part of First Night Boston 2026 at 7 p.m. Wednesday over Boston Common. A second display is scheduled for midnight over Boston Harbor.

First Night, Boston’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration turns 50 this year, and, despite an expected chill in the air, the festivities are anticipated to have the city bustling to welcome 2026.
From downtown to the Common, Copley Square to the waterfront — 10 destinations in all - will feature food, music, ice sculptures and other winter fun.
Temperatures are going to be brisk, so bundle up, hop aboard the T, and make the rounds of ice sculptures, puppet shows, and live musical performances.
