A 38-year-old man has denied a charge of common assault after he allegedly attempted to pelt Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying with eggs at the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s (HKJC) 130th anniversary event on January 11, 2015. One of the eggs he threw allegedly hit a HKJC staff member.
The defendant appeared in Sha Tin Magistrate’s Court on Monday. The HKJC staff member said that she felt pain in her right cheek but did not see anyone attacking her, reported Oriental Daily.
A security guard who helped subdue the defendant at the scene reportedly said that he ordered the defendant to stop throwing things, but he did not see whether they had hit the HKJC staff member.
The defendant wore a mask during the alleged attack and was arrested at the scene. He was found with 40 whole eggs, a multiplier tool and a bunch of nylon rope, reported Apple Daily.
