Nga Tsin Wai Village, the last remaining walled-village in Kowloon, has over 600 years of history. It is the last of the “Kowloon League of Seven”, a defensive union of seven villages formed to guard against pirates and bandits. A combination of pressure from real estate companies and the Urban Renewal Authority sealed the village’s fate in 2007. A few persistent villagers remained in the complex but, after years of delay, the village was finally cleared out on Monday.
