Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA) has announced the local and international call for entries for its Global Design Awards 2016 in all categories.

HKDA Global Design Awards is regarded as one of the most established multi-disciplinary design competitions in the Asia-Pacific region since 1975. This year, it is sponsored by Created HK and celebrates 40th anniversary.

HKDA is currently accepting entries from designers, design’s owners or users of design, brand’s owners, its designers or its design consultancy, without limit of submission. There are four design categories – Digital, Graphics, Products, Spatial and Environmental – spanning 41 subcategories, opened for all pillars of the industry.

There is only one criterion to apply, which is that the entry must have actually been produced and, in the case of commercial designs, have become available in any markets between November 10, 2013 and January 31, 2016.

HKDA Global Design Awards encompasses Gold, Silver, Bronze, Excellence, Hong Kong Best and Judge’s Choice awards to recognise different levels of design excellence.

Also to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Awards, a brand new award, Design NextGen Awards (DNA) for students, is launched to nurture young design generation. Any local design students currently enrolled (or have graduated no earlier than January 1, 2015) in any post-secondary design programmes registered in Hong Kong are eligible to participate in this competition.

Entries for the Awards close on January 31, 2016. Those who sign up by December 31, 2015 can enjoy an early bird special of 50 percent off the registration fee.
