Two men from mainland China have been arrested after they broke into a house in Sai Kung and robbed the owner on Tuesday night, police told HKFP.
Three men invaded the home on Fung Sau Road at around 8pm after threatening the home owner, a 39-year-old woman, with a knife. The men used tape to bind her and her 40-year-old domestic helper before seizing valuables from the home, police said.
The victim alerted police after the robbers left. Officers searched the area and found two of the suspects, aged 33 and 28, at a pier and on Tai Mong Tsai Road respectively. Police believe the two are brothers. The remaining suspect is still at large.
Apple Daily reported that one of the suspects climbed up a tree to resist arrest. The 33-year-old initiated a standoff with police that lasted for about half an hour before being subdued, the newspaper said.
The victim told police she lost a watch worth about HK$60,000, an HK$8,000 handbag, and HK$10,000 in cash. Officers later searched the suspects and their residence and found suspected stolen goods worth approximately HK$300,000.
