A group of 20 Hong Kong people joined a protest organised by the Hong Kong Overseas Alliance against Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying as he visited London.
The group demonstrated outside the Dorchester hotel where Leung was attending an event on Thursday night. A poster promoting the protest said Leung was “not welcome in London.”
The group said that Leung “entered the venue early by himself… we cannot criticise him in the face” and Leung’s wife “stared at the protesters before entering the venue”.
The protesters called for genuine universal suffrage in Hong Kong, and demanded that academic freedom, judicial independence, rule of law and liberty be defended.
They also chanted that Leung Chun-ying is a “sinner in Hong Kong, sinner in UK, sinner of history.”

The protesters were overseen by the police and the protest was peaceful.
The group chanted “Leung Chun-ying step down” and “I want genuine universal suffrage” before he left.
The group said that Leung and his wife “escaped through backdoor,” but Chinese Consul-General to the UK Liu Xiaoming and Secretary for Food and Health Ko Wing-man left through the front door passing the protesters.

The group said Hugh Davies, former British Ambassador on the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group, talked to the protesters after he came out of the venue.
