Two men are set to appear in court for manslaughter charges on Thursday for allegedly beating a mainland tourist to death outside a jewellry shop in Hung Hom on Monday.

The suspects are accused of critically injuring the victim, 54-year-old Miao Chunqi, in a fight purportedly caused by “forced shopping.” Miao later died in hospital.

The suspect was taken back to reconstruct crime scene.

One of the suspects was taken back to the scene of the crime on Wednesday and asked to reenact his assault on Miao using a dummy.

A group of four to five people attacked Miao after he intervened in an argument between his friend Zhang Lixia and tour guide Deng Haiyan. The argument broke out when Miao and Zhang refused to shop in the jewellry store, according to local newspaper Oriental Daily.

Two other suspects in the case are still at large.

Miao’s family have since arrived in Hong Kong.
