A primary school in eastern China has come under fire after it was found to be supplying unclean food to students, Qianjiang Evening News reported.
Parents were shocked when they saw the “nutritious lunch” handed out to their kids each day at the school in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

Pictures posted on Chinese social media showed cooked rice and vegetables stored in dirty plastic containers and raw meat piled on the floor.

One picture showed students lining up outside to collect their lunches. A meal with three dishes and a piece of fruit cost RMB7 (HK$8.5).

The school confirmed to Qianjiang Evening News the pictures are authentic. The lunches were not prepared on campus but provided by a local fast food contractor, the school said.

Local authorities say they have suspended the the contractor’s license and have launched an investigation.
