Seven years after the devastation of the Sichuan earthquake, photographer Chen Jie visited the sites struck by the disaster and was surprised to find that the towns had been taken over by nature.

The pictures were taken at two villages in Beichuan, namely the Five Dragons and Shi yi.

Both villages are located at high elevation, overlooking the Beichuan County and giving Chen a bird-eye’s view of the destruction.

The 2008 Sichuan earthquake claimed almost 70,000 lives.
