A race between man and tram took place on Monday morning from Kennedy Town to Happy Valley over a distance of 8.6 kilometers.
The “Man vs Tram” race, which was organised by marathon group Run the World, kicked off at 5am on Catchick Street and saw more than 40 runners participate in an attempt to outrun the tram, reported Stand News.
Only four of the participants were able to beat the tram.
The journey lasted approximately 38 minutes and the winners were able to outrun the tram by a few minutes, according to passengers who were on board the tram.
The race took place following a proposal submitted to the government by a consultancy suggesting the cancellation of tram route from Central to Admiralty. The head of the consultancy, Sit Kwok-keung, said in an interview that “it is faster to walk than to take the tram.”
