The accident happened on a section of the Yuegan Expressway connecting Guangdong and Jiangxi province at 3:40am. Local broadcaster Heyuan TV said five people were trapped after four trucks carrying clay fell of the highway following the sudden collapse. One was declared dead at the scene when rescue workers arrived while the rest were hospitalised with bone fractures. The condition of the four people taken to hospital was not life-threatening, the broadcaster said. The section that collapsed was 75 metres long. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse.
