Comet poop?
any suggestions for comet poop (is this comet poop)?
I’m taking a movicol sachet 2-3 times a day and have a bowel movement everyday at the same time like clockwork. However, sometimes I experience the first half of my stool is painful to pass and the rest passes like a dream (super soft and not painful, no straining needed). The first half isn’t bulky or anything nor does it feel hard but it’s almost as though it’s dry and I find myself needing to strain to pass it. I have a chronic fissure which will be irritated by just about anything so when this happens I spend the whole rest of the day in terrible pain.
I just don’t understand what is causing the difference in consistencies in my stool on some days because on days my entire stool is as soft as the second half I am pain free.
I don’t know what else I can do. I take about 2-3L of water. Do I need to increase this or space it out a certain way? Are there any lifestyle changes I need to implement? Do I need to lessen the quantity of any meal?
Please help I’m 8 months PP and just about ready to give up when my baby looks at me and wants to play but I’m in too much pain to do anything but lie down.

What time are you taking movicol? Are you taking some in the morning before you eat anything? Some people have more success with calm magnesium, have you tried that?
Also never strain! I have a chronic fissure too and that’s how I got into this mess. Try deep breathing on the toilet, it will help push everything out without having to push or strain.
Yes I take some in the morning before a meal and then evening before bed. I have not tried calm…do you suggest it’s worth a shot?
I try not to strain but I get son tensed up as soon as I sit on the toilet that my muscles get stiff and then I end up having to strain even if the stool isn’t too hard 😞. Just a never ending cycle honestly. Will try the deep breathing and I’m sure it’s the years of straining (had constipation during my childhood) and recently childbirth which has made it chronic.
Can’t take it anymore really
Yes it could be worth trying or even try combining them. What are you eating in the morning?
I totally understand, I’ve been straining for years. I never knew it was a bad thing to do. I’m sorry you have to deal with this right after childbirth. What other things are you doing to heal the fissure? Are you able to get either nitroglycerin or nifedipine from a physician? This will help relax the anal muscles so the fissure can heal and help stop the spasms if you are experiencing any.
