the e3 demo is an xbe yes, but the blam.exe will allow you to play any other map (so long a sthe tag data isn't an older version which some of these are), and sapien will allow you to fly around them in the editor style

heads up: make sure to close blam.exe by hitting esc. closing it any other way will actually keep it running in the background, in which case find blam.exe in task manager under 'background processes' and close it that way.
having multiple blam.exes running will also prevent missions from loading and/or crash blam
