🇯🇵 Hotel New Daishin (ホテル ニュー 大新) — known for its spectacular ocean views and the earliest sunrise in Japan (excluding mountaintops and remote islands) — and 🇯🇵 Daishin Ryokan (大新旅館) in Choshi, Chiba, were suddenly closed a couple of months ago. Many people have made reservations there for their New Year holidays and paid through travel sites — even after it’s closed — and are very concerned. But hotel management has been unreachable so far. A former employee said workers there hadn’t been paid since June and that’s why he quit. The two hotels were bought and taken over by a 🇨🇳 woman — who calls herself 清水 (しみず in Japanese) — for 2 billion yen (she didn’t specify the currency but presumably it’s yen) in 2024, according to a video she posted on 🇨🇳 Xiaohongshu (RedNote) in Apr this year (upper right video). On Dec 26, she showed up wearing a mask and sunglasses and was interviewed by reporters from various 🇯🇵 TV news channels waiting outside Hotel New Daishin (lower right video and videos in the next post in this thread). 1/n japannews.yomiuri.co.jp/society/genera news.tv-asahi.co.jp/news_society/a news.ntv.co.jp/category/socie fnn.jp/articles/-/979 youtu.be/oQmgUj9VG3k?si youtu.be/5zXFii9oDAc?si youtu.be/dsvw3ShjPLw?si
