If you are reading this, you know as well as I do that narcissistic people are really good at hiding their red flags at the beginning of any relationship.
The good news is they always slip up. They always give themselves away. They can’t hide their emotional immaturity, entitlement, or self-centeredness forever. Once we learn what to look for, they’re not that hard to spot.
I have learnt it hard way and if you also want to save yourself from future heartbreak, you have to learn to recognize the hidden signs of narcissism.
Narcissistic people are not smarter than you, they just know how to use one’s kindness and compassion against them. We care about how people feel, we’re empathetic and considerate, these are incredible traits, but if we don’t know how to advocate for our needs and set healthy boundaries, they use these very traits to control us.
The truth is, narcissistic people are always looking to create a power imbalance. Think about it. No one would ever get away with talking to them the way they talk. If we handled conflict the way they do, interrupting, mocking, belittling, it would end badly, wouldn’t it?
