It was the Dwarven Wars, a turning point in the history of the Kingdom of Gratz.
Gratz was at war with more than 5 nations, comprising of a nation even stronger than Gratz itself. A small army of 5,000 were sent to occupy Haziopol, the capital city of Burnia.
Trenches were dug in the city's outskirts, the hearts of Burnia unwavering. A great encirclement was planned by Gratz after it captured the nation of Crux entirely.
The division was equipped with Surronian weapons.
Gratz was trying its best to make use of its limited equipment and army. It had most of its navy focused on the Southern Bay, and most of its army fighting Crux and the other states.
But morale was high. The citizens and soldiers believed in the leader's ability to steer Gratz into a new age of prosperity. They planned to use mushroom gas-induced gas weaponry.
But the soldiers ached to see their relatives again. The war has continued for over 4 years.
They wrote letters, often carrying lockets, colourised photos within their back pockets. They sang songs, forged friendships on the way.
After the war, a cemetery was constructed in the capital of Gratz. It was named the Cemetery of Heroes to commemorate the deaths of those who fought for the fatherland.
For the surviving soldiers, they were given medals for their brave actions.
As for the nation itself, it annexed all the opponents of the war. In turn, they granted citizenship and equal rights for the citizens in jurisdiction of the newly annexed territories.
