今年聖誕平安夜晚上、以及除夕夜晚，九巴一如以往開辦深宵路線N64P 和 N272 綫服務大埔居民，呢兩條線除夕夜更將會延長服務時間至兩點幾。與此同時，亦將會喺除夕夜新增一條大埔區內深宵路線 71P，由太和前往富善 / 富亨 / 富蝶（循環線）。

71P 線由太和總站開出，有別於 71K 的行走方式，係經過大埔政府合署後，便轉右駛往大埔墟廣福道，然後途經大埔墟站，之後沿住南運路駛往怡雅苑、再途經富亨、富蝶、頌雅苑後，前往安慈路同消防局返回太和總站。

71P 收費為 $8.1，只於深夜 1:15 和 1:45 開出兩班車。從走線上觀看，71P 線係以逆時針的方式環繞大埔市區內兜一個圈，並非單純跟返原本 71K 的走線行走，未知是否埋下一些伏筆呢？

埔交得悉，呢條線原計劃叫 N71，並且原定喺平安夜已經開辦，運輸署唔單止已經批咗，仲已經喺聖誕交通安排通告寫明話九巴會開 N71。巴士公司一早喺車頭路線牌同報站系統入咗 N71 嘅資料，亦都已經編好更安排咗人 12 月 24 號揸新線。但因不明原因，九巴方面今日發出通告話條線留待除夕夜先開，number 都改埋叫 71P，搞到我哋都要急急腳改個 post，所以個張圖標題會有啲奇怪，請見諒

This Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, KMB will provide special bus routes N64P and N272 in the small hours to help Lam Tsuen and Pak Shek Kok residents get home after celebrations. On New Year's Eve, it will introduce a late-night special Tai Po town service 71P for the first time.

Departing from Tai Wo at 01:15 and 01:45, 71P will traverse through Kwong Fuk Rd, Tai Po Market Station, Nam Wan Rd, Yee Nga Court, Fu Heng Estate, Fu Tip Estate, and Chung Nga Court, before returning to Tai Wo, running in a roughly anti-clockwise manner around Tai Po town. The fare is $8.1.

It is noted that the special route was originally planned to be numbered N71 and would debut on Xmas Eve — arrangements that the government has already approved and publicised in their traffic advice. However, KMB decided to save the route for NYE and call it 71P instead, for unknown reasons.
