When I say low I don't mean that low, they normally fly over at 10k, this time it was fucking loud but no transponder so I don't know what altitude. I heard a Eurofighter go supersonic about 20 miles from me last year and even that sounded like something blew up.

>>549549436
Oh, and SHIII is better in terms of some of the mechanics. The nips didn't have as good of sonar or radar so its a little easier. Though I think theres more aircraft presence which is just annoying. It's a trade off, you get shittier torpedoes and the computer can be a bitch to use.
SHIV looks nicer and has far better damage models. They're both great games and are dirt cheap. I'd recommend Trigger Maru Overhaul for a mod. I can't remember what it adds but I've been using it for years.

The trailer implies it, though doesn't directly show it, but a dev commented saying
>The ships react to the new MSFS2024 water physics so you'll find them rolling and pitching. As such you'll want to check for calm enough waters when you're landing. An FAQ is on its way
The FAQ says
>For the smoothest landing, try calmer sea conditions, as MSFS2024's new water physics can make landings more dynamic in rougher waves.

Did a flight with the 727 and still had micro stutters showing 70-80 fps while it runs fine in 2020 though it may be the plane since I did some flying around with the Huey and everything was fine.
It might be fine for vfr short hops in low complex piston planes but even then the outdated bing scenery in my turld world country means I'd be playing basically the same game
I'll give it another try once I install everything locally

far cry 5 is only playable if you have the memory of a goldfish, things despawn and respawn right behind you all the time, it's so incredibly jarring, you can spin around in place and see something different on each revolution. I don't know why they started doing this shit, far cry 2, 3, and 4 never had that problem. Just Cause 3 and 4 had the same thing, shit just appearing just off-screen, even though 1 and 2 never had it.

It's oil, grease, and soot runoff from the exhaust vents and other hinges. You usually should clean them but that airframe is the one loaned to the RVS for their tests and demo seasons so they don't have the time to clean it with their schedule. I made this up, after a show, M-346s are left to roam the airbase free for a bit to decompress and relax. Often they will start rolling their bellies in the ground and fall asleep like that.
You mostly have to worry if you see bright red or dark red streaks on a jet as it's fluid from the hydraulics (MIL‑PRF‑83282 etc)

>>

Only way to find out is to take it for a spin.
>>
>>549763463
It depends on how severe it is. The frecce tricolori from what I know would immediately cancel a show if they have any sorts of oil pressure issues/leaks etc. Only acceptable malfunction IIRC was with the smoke system that can sometimes stop working during or after some negative Gs manouvres.
The Al Fursans have used their Temu M-346 for the first time recently and one of them had an hydraulic leak (pic rel) but somehow didn't interrupt the show which imho was kinda reckless as when you start losing hydraulic pressure you also lose authority over your actuators/surfaces.

Fun fact, in My Summer Car, if you piss in the shower in the wrong place, where the piss hits a certain part of the wall, with the battery charger turned on (which is in the garage behind the shower room/sauna) then the piss clips through the wall and you get electrocuted and die. In this case though I forgot to turn the sauna off and the house burnt down, pissing on the fire didn't help.

>>
>>549778208
Just use your imagination, why is that so hard for you little broccoli headed rap listeners?
>>
>>549779303
How about I actually play a well designed game instead of imagining it?

Nobody but the mentally ill wants to fly for 3 hours straight (or longer), so the map is small, each part of the map will offer a unique challenge. Having maintenance and fuel costs and money problems hanging over your head will drive you to do missions that create meaning to your flying, makes you consider which routes to take, builds your connection to your airplane and your sense of presence in the world, a well balanced economy makes you strive to perform better as you progress. Safely landing and completing a mission will give a unique sense of satisfaction when the game presents you with risks.

All of this is gameplay and gamefeel that will never exist in pure sandbox in a shitty bing maps simulator, no matter how much you "imagine" it.

It's the combination of realistic bush flying simulation with proper game design, it will be something greater than the sum of those parts if done right.

I hate boomer dads so god damned much.
"Just use your imagination" Fuck you. You have never played any real video games.

Putting this autistic meltdown aside, during the golden age of flightsims back in the 90s most of them had proper campaigns anyway. Only recently has there really only been sandboxes with careers tacked on as an afterthought if at all.
Both sides of the argument are right. I can sit there and fly around in a sandbox for hours, and on the other hand I want a proper campaigns. Sometimes I just want a career mode. Sometimes I want to do quick drop PVP. Other times I just want to haul cargo.

Damage model alone would be enough. Let me rip off a wing or lose the landing gear when attempting to clear that treeline.
If systems are mismanaged they should break, if you miss something broken on preflight it should have consequences.
Weather of any significance, including turbulence, precipitation, and icing, would be an improvement over 2024's "fly through the hurricane" level of detail.
Having to beat that weather to a destination on an actual timetable, be it to deliver people or supplies, would be a leg up over the half-assed career mode in 24 as well.
There's plenty of room for competition in this market segment.

The Mi-8 has the pilot on the left, co-pilot right, flight engineer in the middle.
I think most soviet helicopters are like that but I'm not sure.
I don't think there is a solid reason, mostly just theories and myths.
The biggest one is that the Sikorsky R-4(the first mass produced helicopter) had the collective down the center between the pilot and copilot and the pilot operated it with his left hand so he could use the cyclic with his right. Then is just kind of stuck.

>>
>>549975164
The tutorials are pretty good for most aircraft, plus there are tons of youtube videos to fill in the gaps.
Just stick to one airframe for a while and learn it system by system until you are a real virtual fighter pilot, then it's not that big of a deal to start learning a different module when you start to get bored.
hint: pick a module with plenty of campaigns, either paid or free at https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/
>>
>>549975164
>3 hours a week?
It'd be a slow process. Fortunately we have Chuck's Guide these days for all airframes. When I was learning the A-10C I would just read the guide while taking a shit or when I wasn't really doing anything.
That helped me out a lot.
It really depends on what you want to get out of the game.
Do you want to goof around and blow things up? Sure, it's not that hard. Do you want to actually study and learn to aircraft? That'll take a lot of time.
Avionics, concepts of flight, mission planing, understanding the battlefield, radios, comms, JTAC. There's a lot to learn if you want to get REALLY autistic with it.

>>549976093
The tutorials are so-so but yeah the community has a ton of videos. Pretty much every single thing you can think of has been covered.

Going to do my first flight in MSFS 2024 SU4. The last time I did this, Rennes to Geneva, the ATC told me to descend as I was over the airport, and then the autothrottle bug meant approach was a nightmare. I still think the EFB fuel and cargo planning is fucked and needs to be fixed, that's already annoyed me, I'm just using the game for the flightplan, no navigraph.

I used TreeSize to try to find shit but I genuinely can't figure out what the fuck is clogging up my storage space like that. I'm supposed to have 465 GB on my drive, literally the ONLY thing I have installed on that drive is DCS because I can't fit anything else there despite that drive being supposed to have another 265 GB left due to DCS being 200.
Anyway I figured out I can literally just delete random game files to get the disk space for it to update and it would automatically redownload them again.

I don't know about MSFS but in Falcon BMS they give me heading, altitude, and distance to do a holding/orbit pattern until they give me the go ahead to try again. I think in real life you just request a go-around but I haven't seen that option in the ATC menu. Maybe the declare emergency option but I digress.
Maybe that's what the waypoint is? Just a holding pattern area or something.

I need to look into how you're supposed to do it, there are two options
>Missed approach
>Missed approach - published
I chose the first, and then the second out of curiosity, which told the ATC that I'd done the missed approach when I hadn't so that probably confused it. The missed approach for LSGG is basically just fly straight to a waypoint and hold, presumably for further instructions. In the end I got to the waypoint, went a bit beyond and the ATC just said resume own navigation, so cancelled IFR then did the approach again after flying back to the start of the STAR.

I shat my pants on landing though seeing a fucking Easyjet A321 coming at me after being cleared to land. ATC and traffic are two areas they really need to work on.

Here's the chart for ILS 04, you can see the missed approach is just head to SAPRE and hold, I declared missed approach published before that which may have broken it, maybe you're supposed to say missed first, then missed published once you've done the missed approach as per the charts.

>early access
>will be released alongside Beale air force base
>Real-world crew audio and guided checklist flow
>In-flight refuelling with multiple difficulty levels (comes with unflyable KC-135 for refuelling)
>cameras won't be fully functional
>'The developer explains that the real aircraft relied on film-based reconnaissance systems that do not translate cleanly into an open-ended flight simulator environment'
>Instead, Blackbird says it has implemented a mission framework that provides feedback through audio and system logic. The virtual RSO informs the pilot about mission progress and success without displaying camera imagery
>The rear cockpit is not user-accessible as a playable station. Blackbird explains this decision by pointing to classification limits and the risk of presenting non-functional systems that could create false expectations. Users will be able to look into the rear cockpit, but not operate it directly.
346 LAD WAKE UP

Sounds a bit gay that the rear cockpit is inop and the cameras don't work, but still might be a good 71.

I guess it's one of those sectors where you don't complain much if 1 or 2 companies have a monopoly, you buy what works. Who is going to use the ejection seat from the new kid on the block unless you're sanctioned? You build a Martin Baker under license to keep the cost down/keep your industry trained and call it a day. Not to mention that when you build it under license like with the M-346 or the Rafale (safran) you can easily make it ITAR free if you need (or at least the UK is less bitchy about export approval than the US).

I like doing the 107th. But like the other anon said, any popular serer full of retards will have them ejecting all over the map and you will run the entire session picking them up out of who knows where.
It's great fun when you time it so you land 5 minutes before the server restarts after flying 2 hours.

Fuck I might do that tonight.

Don't know if Nuclear Option is welcome here, but I'd like to hear Anon's opinion on the A-19 Brawler update. I don't really get that aircraft: sure it can take a beating and fly you back home, but I can't think of a situation in which I'd rather take it over the Tarantula or the Chicane. The showcase mission really manages to show that the cannon is a fucking: lining up and taking potshots at enemies that can snipe you back is stupid.

Are you talking about the bandit that's 1500ft below your belly? Not much of a chance there unless you're flying Wonder Woman's invisible jet.
Make scans habitual, keep your head on a swivel, be clinically paranoid until you land.
In this webm mission planning would also help, remember the (enemy?) airfield you're flying towards and try to be alert for anything that may be taking off from it and staying low.
>>
>>550544007
tbf I never paid attention to enemy airports, might give it a chance
>>
>>550541779
what was helpful for me was to understand the greater mission and front lines, that way I knew expected directions and locations of enemies.

if your example we can see where the front line might be from the enemy distribution, your bandit was right over the front line, where you might expect him

of course expect the unexpected, but I find being able to look any direction out the canopy and knowing in general what is around me to be very helpful

It's one of the best features in 24 honestly, it means you can stay in a flight forever if you want without having to exit it to the menu. Also if the ATC fucks something up you can re file a new plan and try again. There are definitely still issues, I don't know when the rework will be, but BeyondATC and Sayintentions don't even have VFR yet so we don't have a perfect replacement yet.

Most of these are fine. The only really issue is all the bloat it'll add. As well as no one will be able to afford most of it. The F-35A is the only crack pipe on there and I don't like the idea of what it means for the future.

>>550603231
Function over form. They're mass produced and just do a job. Really, most freight locomotives are whatever. The real shame is the US dropped all the good looking passenger locomotives. Europe really isn't much better in that regard, either. Japan is autistic about their trains. I'm not even a weeb, but god damn they have some gorgeous trains.
The US is really stuck with some kind of shitty designs. AMTRAK is pretty boring and the F125 is just a knock off of the Semen Charger. Which isn't even that nice, either.
Really, rail peaked in the 20s and 30s. This isn't a knock on the current rosters, I like most trains. It's just damn, going back and looking at the Art Deco inspired locomotives, it hurts knowing we can't go back.

My followup is the Seven Stars in Kyushu. Absolutely stunning train.

can't blame you, its pretty expensive. pretty similar but longer, more fuel hungry, and less visibility. only thing i don't like is you have to connect a de2(simple) or dh4(be careful in dynamics) to use a remote with it. it's really only worth it for heavier trains but the dynamics are a huge convenience on long hills

Every way except convenience and comfort.
Much easier to get a quick flight in on flatscreen, much less of an isolating commitment.
If you want to lock in for a few hours, VR is king. If you want to keep it casual or do any multitasking, flatscreen can't be beat.

Idk how successful it was, probably sseth's video did help a lot.
I hope in a sequel, because for me the ending felt truncated and content wise there were clear signs there was more stuff that never made the cut. IIRC HighFleet was in development for God knows how long (8 years or thereabouts) and the guy kept tinkering with it until he was basically forced to release. I'm not sure the guy was in the mood to keep working on it after all this time and he might have moved on another project. Take this info with a grain of salt because it's been a long time since release.

Considering the plane and livery, I'd say that's a 5 spritz and 2 gin tonic landing. Well, if you look at the "crazy flight" maneuver (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVi-eo1vdi4) [Embed] one might imagine the amount of alcohol needed to pull that off. I hope they'll keep on doing it with the M-346 too.
>>

So all this time you've just slewed a 346 up to altitude, taken a screenshot, and then closed the game? You should be ashamed of yourself.

There's almost zero chance they will be able to, FBW aircraft like the M-346 can't safely perform such wild manouvres at such low speeds. If we're lucky we might get still retain a simplified Lomcovák, but it depends on how much they want to relax the FBW software for the team.
