Passengers aboard an Air Congo flight at Kindu Airport in the Democratic Republic of Congo experienced an unusual and unsettling end to their journey after being forced to jump directly from the aircraft due to the absence of ground equipment.
The flight, operated by a Boeing 737, had already been delayed on the apron, with passengers reportedly waiting several hours on board after landing. When disembarkation finally began, no passenger stairs were available, leaving the aircraft crew with little choice but to allow passengers to exit through the aircraft door and jump down onto the tarmac.
While no injuries have been officially reported, the incident raises serious concerns about ground handling procedures, passenger safety, and infrastructure limitations at the airport.
Air Congo has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident or explained why adequate disembarkation equipment was not available at the time of arrival.
The video of the incident has since circulated widely online and is embedded below.
