Sup niggers.
5 years ago, I bought a laptop from my colleague for 50 euros. Of course with that price, the laptop would be shit; however, I still managed to game on it, playing Red Faction, AVP2, Shogu and even Left 4 Dead 2 smoothly geg.
So, after a few years ago, I decided to bingeplay L4D2 and everything was well, I then played some strange ass map and soon my laptop recieved a BSOD and shutdown. When I tried booting up, the Win 7 kept loading and loading for like 15 min until it gave me a BSOD and shut down. I tried going on system repair or cleanup, but that shit didn't do anything. The only shit that worked was going to safe mode or disabling the GPU from the device manager. I then thought that maybe Win 7 was AIDS, so I installed Linux Mint on it and replaced it. Guess what? The same shit obviously, it didn't load and I had to go on recovery mode. I changed some line of code to make me start up normally.
So my question for you /tech/niggers is this, can I save this shitty ass laptop to make it compatible for gayming, or is the GPU really that bricked and I'm stuck with making this into a work laptop?

I actually have internet this slow at least on steam download.

Personal computers will become a thing of the past eventually because professional hardware can be sold for way more than consumer hardware and they also get more control over data, but this RAM thing won't be what makes it happen. The GPU "shortage" was due to the fact that anyone living in an area with cheap electricity could set up a dozen+ GPUs and make passive income after a couple months. This RAM "shortage" is because datacenters want it for AI, which is going to be a bit of a bubble for a many reasons, but also because the RAM companies are notorious for creating shortages and have even been fined for it many times in the past. Seriously, it happens every few years. But they're getting better at not getting caught. (But not fined enough because they come out ahead even after paying the fines.)

Always remember that fines are just ways to make breaking the law legal for very rich people/companies. Call for unavoidable jail time for these faggots AND their top investors, not fines.

I've been using Cursor with Claude Opus 4.5 for a long time vibe coding. And by vibe coding I mean explaining exact logic and architecture to LLM and it writes code for me, so that's why it works great for me o algo. I pay $20-40 for my Cursor subscription and it is great, but I really want to break free from the corporate shackles one day and use it locally. My questions are:
1. What LLM model and hardware do I need to have to be as good as Claude 4.5 Opus with a 200k context window?
2. If it is not going to be as good as Claude 4.5, how good is it going to be and comparable to what and what tasks could I do with it?
I do mostly gamedev btw.

I am also concerned how I became dependent on AI coding in the recent few years, but I also can't go back to normal coding since I feel I will be missing out and slacking, when my competition uses AI a lot.

Basically, aryanware that ain't in nixpkgs WON'T WORK normally, and you'll have to spend time writing your own packages instead of simply running them and hoping that it will work. /nix/store is immutable, so if you have to run something that installs additional components (e.g. selenium, or burpsuite browser) you're convicted of spending hours figuring out what exactly it needs. If it has a lot of deps, then YOU'RE SO CUCKED GEEEEEEG

It's an obvious thing, though, but did you know that https://repology.org/repositories/graphs is nothing, because nixpkgs mostly consists of some snca python and haskel libraries n shiet, so YOU WILL write a lot of custom derivations to shoot yourself in the foot just to use some basic stuff. Don't laugh, but at some point it was simpler for me to run the same app, but a WINDOWS VERSION with wine instead of fixing the LINUX one, on the fucking gnu/linux… Also good luck spending your time searching for the libraries for nix-ld, because after switching to this masterpiece, you have one more "would it work" concern.

A LOT OF THINGS are broken, and something like home manager should be included in nix pm itself. Maintainers don't care about their broken niggerslop but do care about banning you for misgendering or whatever. They haven't been able to add dynamic linking to home manager for a few years already, it's just ridiculous. ABSOLUTE COALLLL
