Tower of Trials v3.15 r60
Tower of Trials v3.14 r59
v3.14 release; bugfixes to rare issues:
- An alternate boss's late-phase attack would occasionally allow for losing multiple Life Shrooms and/or cause Life Shroom graphics to be permanently on-screen for the rest of the battle; this attack now works like similar multi-hit attacks, and ensures that only the last hit to land on a character is able to defeat them.
- Lickety Spit should no longer unintentionally let Yoshi swallow an enemy ~1% of the time.
Tower of Trials v3.13 r58
v3.13 release; minor but critical bugfix:
- Game no longer crashes if declining Chet Rippo's offer after selecting a stat to reduce by a level.
Tower of Trials v3.12 r57
v3.12 release; minor bugfix:
- Alternate boss's recovery move no longer shows the wrong HP recovery amount in the visual effect.
Tower of Trials v3.11.1 r56
v3.11 release; new bugfix:
- (Dark) Boos should no longer consider (Dark) Boos on the opposite alliance as valid targets for invisibility or moving upward; previously, this could cause a softlock for the ally-invisibility move if only Boos of the opposite alliance were visible, or cause a Boo to skip their turn if they tried to cause Boos from the other alliance to rise up.
(3.11.1 hotfix: copy-pasted a function trampoline name wrong; probably fine since the trampoline's not called, but just to be sure)
Tower of Trials v3.10 r54
v3.10 release; new QoL feature:
Complete a tower run with custom settings, or a certain number of runs with any settings, to unlock the ability to save and load up to three custom settings presets (including the selected seed, and custom starting item/badge/move loadouts, if applicable), using an NPC added to the tower lobby.
Tower of Trials v3.03 r53
v3.03 release; minor bugfixes + QoL improvements:
- Achievement trackers now show up even if you've finished 0% of it (aside from run-specific ones outside of the tower, or if they've already been failed).
- Achievement tracker for "meet all bonus conditions" achievement won't mistakenly show "???" as if you've failed after finishing a fight that has no bonus condition.
- Enemy attacks that can target the whole field no longer ignore felled Dry Bones; e.g. formerly Bob-ulk explosions could skip them and apply the damage to the next target in line under some circumstances.
Tower of Trials v3.02 r52
v3.02 release; several minor bugfixes + quality of life improvements:
- QoL: Added progress trackers in place of the "???" unlockable description for many achievements that have a progression component (e.g. "10/100" on 100 total Superguards achievement).
- Alternate bosses were not correctly being guaranteed under certain conditions, this has been fixed.
- Fixed vertical placement of reroll / reveal counter relative to Mario when approaching a chest.
- Slightly improved descriptions of a couple of options / achievements.
Tower of Trials v3.01 r51
v3.01 release; bugfix:
- "Random" options preset will no longer randomize options you don't have access to.
Tower of Trials v3.00 r50
Tower of Trials v3.00, the final major content update, is now released!
Note: Save files will still carry over from v1.xx + v2.xx saves, but cannot be reverted to an earlier version after updating. It is highly recommended that you not update while in the middle of a tower run, as some aspects of seeding have changed.
Changelist:
- New content:
- Two alternate final bosses added!
- New options:
- "Final Boss" option; can be set to Random (has a small chance of picking alternate bosses, if their unlock conditions have been met), Default (always the dragons), each Alternate Boss (if they have been beaten before), or "Equally Likely" (if all have been beaten at least once).
- "Midbosses" option, allowing you to make midboss enemies and their minions have greater variety in a few different fashions.
- "Chest Choice" option, allowing you to enable Reroll Dials (rerolls all chest reward types on a floor) or Reveal Cloaks (reveals chest reward types, which are otherwise hidden). Both rerolls and reveals are used by pressing L next to a chest, and you are given 3 / 6 of them for 32 / 64-floor tower runs (you can also choose to have Charlieton stock refills).
- Move Availability has the new option Forced Choice, which randomly picks one of the 2 or 3 moves it would otherwise have offered when choosing a jump, hammer or partner move reward.
- Added "Random" preset, which automatically picks a random setting for most options.
- NPC changes:
- Added Merlon, who will tell you which midboss is on the next floor for free, and offer to change it to something else for coins (with increasing prices if you repeatedly change it on the same floor).
- Chet Rippo no longer costs coins to use; you simply exchange stat levels for Shine Sprites.
- Added 10 new achievements, and made requirements for a couple others slightly easier to achieve.
- Added 3 new Mario + 5 new Yoshi costumes.
- Gameplay balance changes:
- Changed midboss types to be predetermined when starting a tower run, so Merlon won't reroll a boss into something you'd normally encounter later in the run.
- The Super Start badge had its BP cost halved from 4 to 2, and its buy/sell price lowered. The first copy still yields 0.50 SP at the start of every fight, but additional ones now only add an extra 0.25 apiece.
- Iron Clefts were made slightly easier, with their base HP being reduced from 8 to 6.
- Randomizing the "Superguard Cost" option is now more likely to give you a lower Superguard cost, or no cost at all.
- One of the alternate bosses' attacks was changed so it can now target any party member, not just grounded ones.
- Cosmetics' prices were rebalanced, generally scaling with their respective achievement's difficulty.
- QoL changes:
- The blue Bub-ulb in Petalburg now can tell you exactly how many times you were offered and took rewards of any type in the tower (in most cases, anyway; Mario's HP upgrade chests were mistakenly tracked as "other badges" prior to this release, so the initial pick rates for HP and "other badges" are initialized to a random guess if loading a save file from a previous version of ToT).
- Tattle log entries have ribbons added to indicate whether the enemy can appear as a midboss, and whether they've been previously defeated if so.
- When using the cosmetic selectors, pressing "X" now toggles all options off/on (except for Mario's costumes), and pressing "Y" picks a single random option.
- Cosmetics' sort order changed to be more consistent (v2.0 additions no longer are sorted to the bottom).
- Bugfixes:
- Boomerang Bros. will now always correctly target all possible targets if they or another enemy in the battle are Infatuated.
- Clock Out now hits everything on the enemy side, always; previously, Infatuated enemies could sometimes be missed.
- Individual options are no longer able to be individually randomized when not using the Custom preset, or able to be changed at all if their effects would not be possible to logically apply (e.g. Starting Partner with partners turned off).
- Some options used to have their encodings impossible to distinguish due to bits being incorrectly dropped in the encoding process; this should be fixed now.
