Collaborate Without Compromise - Protecting communication for the world’s most security-demanding organizations!
About us
Wire is the enterprise-class platform for secure, uncompromising digital collaboration. We partner with Government, Defense, and Public Sector agencies that prioritize security and confidentiality above all else. We also serve enterprise organizations that want to deliver digitally transformed employee and customer communications, while maintaining data protection, privacy, and compliance. Digital collaboration is at the heart of modern employee productivity and customer experience. Yet, the freedom of sharing afforded by collaboration puts sensitive data at risk like never before. Worse, the most common collaboration tools are developed by tech giants that actively work to expose and exploit your data, rather than protect it. As a pioneer and the world’s leading implementer of the Internet’s most scalable and performant encryption for group communication–the Messaging Layer Security (MLS), Wire is uniquely equipped to help your organization build a delightful digital workspace that keeps your sensitive data safe.

Riyadh gave us something rare this week: honest, open dialogue across ministries and partners Together with strong leaders in secure communication including agilimo Consulting GmbH , Materna, and SOTI, we sat down with representatives from the Ministries of Economy, Education, Finance and Digitalization for an open discussion on trust, sovereignty and the future of secure communication. What struck us wasn’t just the depth of technical questions, it was the genuine curiosity. The willingness to challenge old assumptions. The sense that many countries are on a similar journey: wanting more control, more transparency and more independence in how they build their digital foundations. When the conversation between Frederik Olivanti, Marcus Heinrich, Daniel Zimmermann and Stefan Mennecke shifted to cybernation and the importance of digital education, the energy shifted. Heads nodding, follow-up questions coming in: the kind of engagement that shows people see a real path forward. And that’s ultimately what this event was about: not pitching solutions, but exchanging ideas. Not talking to each other, but learning with each other. Building trust, one conversation at a time. Thank you to all partners and participants for the openness, the dialogue and the warm hospitality. We’re looking forward to continuing this journey together step by step. 🇸🇦✨ #DigitalSovereignty #SecureCollaboration

Ever wondered why end-to-end encryption matters beyond the buzzword? Most of us don’t think about who can access our messages behind the scenes. But in many workplace tools, an admin still has what our Head of Product Marketing calls “godlike powers.” That means if you're discussing sensitive IP, board decisions or high-stakes operations, there's a built-in risk: admins can be targeted, phished, compromised or simply make a mistake. In this short explainer, Alex Henthorn-Iwane breaks down why end-to-end encryption changes that equation entirely: 🔐 Only the people in the conversation can read the content. Not servers, not providers, not administrators. ⚠️ And why this matters most when the information is too valuable to get wrong. If you’ve always wanted the “non-technical” explanation of E2EE, this is the one to watch. 👇 #SecureCollaboration #EndToEndEncryption

Why do so many people continue relying on big tech search engines, even when strong, privacy-respecting alternatives exist? This question extends far beyond search. Across Europe, organisations often default to global tech platforms, even when secure, compliant, and sovereign European solutions are available. In the secure communications space, we see similar patterns. Despite increasing awareness around privacy and digital sovereignty, many teams still choose tools that were never designed with European data protection in mind. What prevents organisations from choosing European, sovereign-by-design technologies? Génica Schäfgen from Ecosia raises excellent points about user habits, trust, and why it is important to choose European alternatives. Watch the video below to know more. #DigitalSovereignty #Ecosia #EuropeanTech

Ever wondered what end-to-end encryption actually is… but felt a bit embarrassed to ask? You’re not alone. Most people use tools that claim to be “secure” without really knowing what happens under the hood, and honestly, that’s not their fault. Security has been explained in a way only security engineers could love. So here’s the simple version: End-to-end encryption means your message is locked before it leaves your device and unlocked only on the recipient’s device. Not by servers. Not by platforms. Not by “trusted intermediaries.” Only by the people in the conversation. It’s the digital equivalent of sealing a letter in an envelope only you and the recipient can open. Security shouldn’t make you feel insecure, it should make sense. 👇We’re breaking it down in a new carousel #SecureCollaboration #EnterpriseSecurity

91% of data breaches still come down to one thing: human error. And in 2025, AI-generated phishing became the leading cause of breaches overtaking manual attacks entirely. So why are sensitive conversations still happening on tools built for convenience? The Secure Communication Primer explores how everyday workflows (email, calendars, chat apps) quietly become attack surfaces, and why shifting sensitive communication into protected channels is now a basic resilience measure. 🔗 Read the guide: https://lnkd.in/eBFtTSvA #SecureComms #EnterpriseSecurity

📧 Email remains the easiest entry point for attackers. It’s still the backbone of business communication. But it’s also where sensitive data slips out, compliance risks begin, and control is too often outsourced to non-EU providers. If digital sovereignty is about control, email is where that control is tested daily. Securing it means more than encryption, it means awareness, compliance, and trust by design. “We cannot afford this level of dependence on foreign tech,” There’s growing momentum in the European Parliament to move away from US-controlled cloud and communication platforms and transition toward EU-based IT solutions, a shift aimed at strengthening digital sovereignty, improving data security, and demonstrating true leadership in Europe’s own tech choices : https://lnkd.in/ddzDVGYm If parliaments, ministries and agencies want to lead by example, this discussion matters. Because digital sovereignty isn’t achieved by regulation alone, it’s built into everyday tools. The debate is growing louder: is it time for Europe’s institutions to adopt the technologies that reflect their own values? #DigitalSovereignty #SecureCollaboration

Why are the “good actors” in tech judged more harshly than the bad ones? In this Wire Uncut moment, Génica Schäfgen from Ecosia explains a dynamic many ethical companies know too well: When you talk openly about your values or positive impact, people scrutinize everything. Meanwhile, Big Tech gets a free pass because expectations are already low. Ecosia faces this constantly. Their tree-planting work is questioned in a world full of greenwashing and “feel-good” marketing. But the reality is measurable: 🌱240 million surviving trees 🌱 Verified ecological and social value 🌱 Transparent reporting and long-term partnerships They’re not perfect. No one is. But they are transparent, committed, and working with partners to make a real impact. 🎥 Watch the short clip below It’s a powerful reminder: doing good shouldn’t require perfection. #DigitalSovereignty #Ecosia #EuropeanTech

💬 What’s the point of “sovereignty” if your messages still travel through someone else’s servers? Every message exchanged inside government agencies, enterprises, or critical infrastructure carries sensitive information. Yet much of Europe’s communication still runs on platforms governed by non-EU laws. Secure messaging is more than a compliance checkbox. It’s how organizations regain control, ensure confidentiality, and build trust inside their own borders. #DigitalSovereignty #SecureCollaboration

Researchers from the University of Vienna and SBA Research found that large parts of WhatsApp’s global account directory could be retrieved, without breaking encryption. Security issues happen. What matters is the response. In this case, researchers reported the issue for over a year before action was taken, raising questions about commitment to privacy. Key findings from the study: 3.5B accounts identifiable across 245 regions 57% of users had public profile photos 30% shared personal or workplace info 2.3M encryption keys reused across devices Up to one third of accounts marked as “business” with no verification. E2EE worked but the data around the messages still exposed risks for organizations. 🇪🇺 Over the past five years, the EU has introduced nine major digital regulations, all reinforcing one goal: resilience through sovereignty. From NIS2 and DORA to GDPR, Europe’s new wave of regulation is redefining what it means to be secure, resilient, and sovereign. These frameworks share one message: you can’t comply if you don’t control your data, your vendors, and your infrastructure. As laws tighten and cross-border data risks grow under acts like the U.S. CLOUD Act, European organizations face a simple truth: True compliance needs to be built with technology that stays under European jurisdiction. Europe showed its ambition this week and digital sovereignty was the headline At the European Digital Sovereignty Summit in Berlin, leaders from government and industry focused on a shared goal: reducing structural dependence on non-European providers and strengthening Europe’s ability to build, operate and own its critical digital infrastructure. Our CEO Benjamin Schilz attended the discussions - together with our partners, including Christophe Lesur, CEO of Cloud Temple - as France and Germany called for clearer rules, simplified regulation, and stronger European-first procurement. A few signals stood out: - A push for harmonized EU digital regulation and “regulatory simplification” - Momentum behind European-first procurement for public administration - Renewed emphasis on sovereign cloud, open-source infrastructure, and resilience Our takeaway: “France and Germany showed huge ambition for Europe around tech. Europe is back.” #DigitaleSouveränität #EUSummit #EUSummit25 Image sources: © BMDS / bundesfoto

What’s your plan B if your cloud provider goes dark? Most European enterprises still depend on U.S. providers for communication, storage, and infrastructure. But that dependence comes with hidden costs from compliance conflicts under GDPR and NIS2, to reputational fallout from breaches, vendor lock-in, and operational disruption. Our latest carousel breaks down four ways Big Tech dependence increases enterprise exposure ... and why more organizations are exploring European alternatives built for trust and control. 🚨 Collaboration tools have quietly become one of the biggest security risks in the modern workplace. Not because IT teams aren’t doing their job, but because most platforms were built for convenience, not protection. And in today’s threat landscape, that gap is starting to hurt. On December 10, we’re bringing together experts to talk about a shift many organizations are now facing: your network may be hardened, but your day-to-day communication layer is still exposed. In this session, we will dive into: 🔹 Why collaboration tools have become the new attack surface 🔹 What recent breaches reveal about systemic vulnerabilities 🔹 How enterprises can stay usable and secure without slowing teams down If securing internal communications is on your 2025 agenda, this conversation will be worth your time. 🔗 Join us on December 10, 10:00 CET: https://lnkd.in/dKTP_eA3 #SecureCollaboration #DigitalSovereignty #CyberResilience

☁️ Can Europe be sovereign if its clouds aren’t? Behind every “sovereign” solution lies the infrastructure it runs on. Cloud providers decide where data is stored, who governs it, and how resilient it is when borders, laws, or policies shift. That’s why Europe’s cloud ecosystem matters more than ever from STACKIT and OVHcloud, to platforms like Cloud Temple and Scaleway. Cloud infrastructure is more than a service layer, it’s the backbone of sovereignty itself. 👓 : https://lnkd.in/dbjtUMJp #DigitalSovereignty #EuropeanTech #CloudSovereignty

💾 What does “sovereignty” really mean if your files still live on foreign servers? While attention often goes to messaging or AI, file storage quietly shapes the foundation of Europe’s digital independence. It decides where data resides, who can access it, and how compliance is enforced. For many organizations, sovereignty starts not with policy but with infrastructure. Choosing European-built storage solutions (like Internxt, Pydio, Nuclino or CryptPad) means to choose control, trust, and resilience within EU jurisdiction. File storage may not make headlines, but it defines who truly owns their data. Dive into the full breakdown: https://lnkd.in/dbjtUMJp #DigitalSovereignty #EuropeanTech

European organizations are rethinking where their data and trust belong. For years, many relied on U.S.-based cloud and collaboration providers by default, but regulations like NIS2 and DORA, combined with concerns over the CLOUD Act and FISA 702, are now driving a shift toward European-built solutions that ensure data control, compliance and sovereignty within EU borders. This evolution goes beyond regulation: it’s about strengthening long-term resilience through open-source transparency, verifiable security and trusted local infrastructure. 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dwwCgTYa #DigitalSovereignty #EuropeanTech

Why is our Director of Product explaining a meme at a digital sovereignty event? 😄 Because sometimes, the best way to talk about Europe’s tech future is to show what’s actually holding it back: perception. At Andersen Lab’s “Europe: Digital Sovereignty or Dependence?” event in Amsterdam, Guillaume Lesur joined European tech leaders; Irina Gruzdeva, Mahmoud Yassin & Mariane ter Veen, to discuss how we can shift that narrative. As he pointed out, Europe already builds world-class technology, the problem isn’t capability, it’s how it’s perceived. Sovereignty starts with pragmatism: 👉 Put European solutions first, not as backups. 👉 Let reliability and security prove themselves in practice. The message was clear: European innovation isn’t a niche choice anymore. It’s the natural, trusted foundation for a secure digital future. 🇪🇺 #DigitalSovereignty #EuropeanTech
