CUPPING NOTES: Honey Blossom, White Peach, Tangerine VARIETAL: Geisha ORIGIN: Volcan, Panama PRODUCER: Willem Boot HARVEST: March 2025 PROCESSING: Whole Cherry Wet Fermentation, Pulped, Rinsed & Dried on Raised Beds
THE ORIGIN
Finca La Mula hails from the Volcan region of Panama, sitting at 1700-1800 MASL. It was founded by Willem Boot & managed by another well-known Panamanian producer, their Hartmann family. The Geisha variety has become synonymous with Panama, widely recognised as the origin for some of the best coffees in the world
THE PROCESS
This coffee underwent a “modern” washed processing, where ripe cherries are soaked underwater during the fermentation period. The coffees are then pulped and rinsed to remove the remaining mucilage. This ensures a clarity that allows us to fully appreciate the cultivar & terroir with minimal intervention from excessive processing.
WHY WE CHOSE THIS COFFEE
Finca La Mula consistently remains under the radar compared to its sister farm Finca Sophia (also co-owned by Willem Boot) yet the quality truly shines. This coffee was the first Geisha we roasted & showcased in our first year, making it truly a memorable coffee for us. We hope you will enjoy La Mula Geisha as much we do
