Excited to showcase an incredibly unique variety - Laurina! This is a rare cultivar that is difficult to cultivate, yet it flourishes as El Turpial under the watchful care of Emerson Narvaez. We’re incredibly lucky to be able to share this coffee with you.
Laurina is a low-caffeine variety, a trait unique compared to other Arabica cultivars. It is believed to have first originated in the French Reunion Islands & is also known as Bourbon Pointe. Emerson has been cultivating Laurina amongst other exotic cultivars at El Turpial, which sits at a majestic 2300MASL in Narino, Colombia. This coffee was processed by limiting or controlling the amount of oxygen in the fermentation tanks for 6 days, before being carefully dried on raised beds in the sun. This careful protocol ensures the Laurina’s unique silky & delicate characteristics are emphasised.
We love this coffee’s lively acidity, which elegantly gives way to a delicate white peach sweetness. The mouthfeel is light yet sticky, with a florality reminiscent of flower nectar. We hope you will enjoy this coffee as much as we do
