Gauge 1 and O-scale UP live steam turbine locos by Wada Works, Japan

Hello,

Model Railroader Magazine issue August 1993 shows on page 136 two photos and an article on an operating Union Pacific steam turbine in O scale. Videos of a similar gauge one model can be found on youtube. There are 4 more photos of the O-scale model onTrainorders.com that give a glimpse of the inner workings, but that's about all I was able to retrieve. The steam turbine Sabre 65 that was sold by Wada Works for ship models in the 1980s and 1990s is definitely not the prime mover in the O-scale loco due to its size, but what about the gauge one model?
Does anyone have more info?

Regards
Michael

Thank you very much for the links, Kikansha !
Most interesting are the Japanese websites (online translation tools have improved a lot).

At present, I am buidling a train of ore cars for my Swedish turbine loco, which has backstaged any new turbine project.
I am thinking of a steam turbine electric loco with a flash steam boiler following either the class 60 conversion above, or W. Stanier's doomed LMS project of the 1930's... unfortunately even after retirement my day still has only 24 hours :)

I'm honored to have been of help.
Wada steam turbines may be offered at auction.
And I saw it being sold at a long-established model shop more than 10 years ago.
I can assist with any research into Wada turbines in Japan.

Again, thank you very much, Kikansha !
The first two links point to the work of my friend Werner Jeggli. I look forward to meeting him and his locos again at the trainexpo.ch show near Zürich in May. We are going to have a stand at the show and demonstrate our turbine locomotives (Werner's locos will be operated by Heinrich Schartner, since Werner's eyesight has deteriorated).
The third link is really new to me.
Well, the fourth link would have saved me some money :D Just yesterday, I received the reprint of this classic book from TEE Publishing.
It is good to have created some interest in this topic.

Mr Jeggli had an article in Garden Railways magazine, February 2017 on his LMS steam turbine locomotive. The gear ratio is 1:84. One steam jet, 0.80mm at 50 PSI

Thank you Kikansha, again very interesting links.
To be honest, my interest in turbo-electric locomotives has cooled down a bit. Why? At the Trainexpo.ch (see thread) it was clear: to arouse interest some kind of acoustic and visual action is necessary. The former is always given with a turbine with its special sound, the latter only if something of the mechanics remains recognizable, which is missing with turbo-electric locomotives.

Unfortunately, Werner's latest turbine developments — which, according to his friend Heinrich Schartner, are the best and most efficient — are not covered in the book. Nor have they been implemented in a locomotive. What a pity!
