Tune into #ThePowerofKnowing with Lidia Fonseca and Edith Cooper as they explore how leaders can learn from the past, lead by example, and bring everybody along for the journey of AI-driven transformation so they feel empowered to embrace it.

Edith Cooper is a true trailblazer. A Wall Street veteran, the first Black woman to become a partner at Goldman Sachs, and Co-Founder of Medley, Edith has a keen understanding of how to build a culture that empowers people to reach their potential.     In the newest episode of #ThePowerofKnowing, I sat down with Edith to discuss the role AI plays in developing the talent and solutions of tomorrow, what it takes for an organization to break barriers with AI, and how we can take our workplace cultures to the next level.     As I reflect on our conversation, I am struck by Edith’s insights on leading by example in the age of AI: embracing curiosity, vulnerability, and, above all, empathy. With so much promise in innovative technologies, we must arm individuals with the right tools and mindsets to seize the moment.     🎥 Watch the full episode of #ThePowerofKnowing here: https://lnkd.in/ektg_j39    #ThePowerofKnowing

Pfizer colleagues around the world came together for AI Festival Week 2025—learning, experimenting, and connecting across 54 sessions, global on-site events, and watch parties. From hands-on labs to visionary discussions, the energy sparked new ideas and a shared commitment to making AI part of how we work and deliver on Pfizer's purpose.

Pfizer’s second annual AI Festival Week 2025 was a powerful reminder of what happens when we create space for learning, experimentation, and connection. This year, we had 54 sessions across seven different sites—and hosted watch parties in Greece, Columbia, Japan, China, and other offices all over the world. Colleagues leaned in—with curiosity, courage, and a shared commitment to shaping the future of healthcare. From hands-on labs to fireside chats with some of the most visionary minds in AI, the Festival was designed to spark ideas and build confidence. And it did just that. I saw teams rolling up their sleeves, exploring new tools, asking bold questions, and imagining how AI could help them work smarter and deliver more. What stood out most was the mindset shift. AI is no longer an abstract concept. It is becoming part of how we think, how we collaborate, and how we solve problems. That shift is cultural, and it is foundational. As we move forward, our challenge is to keep this momentum alive. To continue investing in people, encouraging experimentation, and making AI accessible to every colleague. Because when we do, we unlock something powerful: a workforce that is not just ready for change but leading it.

Julie Sweet has been one of the most influential voices on how AI is reshaping business and leadership. As Chair and CEO of Accenture, she continues to challenge companies to rethink how they work in an AI-driven world.    In the latest episode of #ThePowerofKnowing, I sat down with Julie to explore what leadership looks like in this new era of technology and how she views uncertainty not as a barrier, but as a launch pad for reinvention and opportunity.    Julie’s insights remind me that success today is not about control or incremental change. It is about having the courage to dream big, to reimagine workflows from the ground up, and to see possibilities where others see risk.    🎥 Watch the full episode of #ThePowerofKnowing here: https://lnkd.in/eWDeSPvH   #ThePowerofKnowing

We are proud to announce that Pfizer has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Metsera, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company. This acquisition will enhance our Internal Medicine portfolio and help us address the significant unmet needs in obesity and cardiometabolic disease. Obesity is a major global health challenge, contributing to chronic diseases, shortened lifespans, and rising healthcare costs. While GLP-1 medications have made strides, there is still a significant unmet need among patients with obesity and the more than 200 associated health conditions. Metsera brings a portfolio of promising therapeutic candidates, including clinical-stage programs investigating potential best-in-class injectables. By applying Pfizer's deep cardiometabolic experience, manufacturing capabilities, and clinical expertise to the advancement of Metsera’s portfolio, we aim to reshape the treatment landscape with more effective, better-tolerated, and convenient medicines. We expect to close this deal in the fourth quarter, subject to satisfaction of customary closing conditions, receipt of regulatory approvals and Metsera’s shareholders' approval. Learn more about today’s announcement: https://lnkd.in/g3FP7ra3 When we are focused and disciplined, Pfizer excels at advancing breakthroughs that change patients’ lives. #Metsera

Technology meets purpose in this powerful conversation on AI’s role in patient care with Lidia Fonseca and Dr. Sue Desmond-Hellmann. #ThePowerofKnowing.

In the latest episode of #ThePowerofKnowing series, I had the privilege of speaking with Dr. Sue Desmond-Hellmann about how AI is transforming health outcomes by enhancing disease identification, enabling personalized treatment, and accelerating drug development. Sue’s experience as a renowned oncologist, scientist, and former CEO of the Gates Foundation brings rich insights to our conversation. A few key learnings: AI is an accelerant to help us drive faster, smarter breakthroughs; responsibility and ethics play a key role in successful outcomes; and I loved Sue’s advice about “learning to learn” to cope with a rapidly evolving world. Sue also spoke about how AI can help us understand why certain cancers, like colon cancer, are appearing in younger patients, speeding up epidemiological work and diagnosis, and creating the possibility to develop treatments with improved targeting. These considerations are essential to Pfizer’s work in oncology, consumer health, and cross-industry partnerships, which we also discussed in this conversation.  🎥 Watch this episode of #ThePowerofKnowing to join the conversation: https://lnkd.in/eMErKR7v.

The 'Underserved Within' Phenomenon - An Important Perspective on Vaccination Disparities   Despite advancements in healthcare, vaccination rates in Europe are still not meeting targets. This problem is especially bad in marginalized communities like the traveling population and new immigrants.   Another important group that is often overlooked are people from mixed economic backgrounds within the same communities. These "underserved within" face complex barriers to getting vaccinated. This includes issues with access, not trusting information sources, and economic differences.   To address these complex differences, we need tailored, grassroots efforts to understand individual perspectives and situations. Ensuring equitable access to healthcare, regardless of socioeconomic status, is crucial.   Pfizer has partnered with the Association Excellence in Pediatrics Institute to release a new report on this important, often overlooked issue in public health. It's a must-read for anyone interested in driving more inclusive and effective vaccination strategies. https://lnkd.in/eHKmeGEa

6 Facts You (Maybe) Didn’t Know About Vaccines Vaccines are one of humanity’s greatest accomplishments – heroes of global health, the passion and pride of so many of us who work with rigor and ingenuity to move science forward. No other medical intervention comes close to rivaling their impact on human health and longevity, something we should all be thankful for. In recognition of World Immunization Week, I am sharing 6 numbers that remind us of their impact. ⏰  6 people per minute - on average, that’s how many people across the globe have had their lives saved over the last 50 years as a result of vaccinations. That’s 154 million people who were given a chance to live, thanks to vaccines. 🦠 20+ life-threatening diseases have vaccines available to help prevent them. Thanks to vaccines, we’ve been able to eliminate or nearly eliminate diseases like smallpox and polio. 👶 4 million deaths are prevented worldwide each year from childhood vaccinations. With their developing immune systems, the germs that babies and children encounter can lead to serious disease – vaccines help protect our most vulnerable. 💉 14.5 million children across the world did not receive a single dose of a vaccine in 2023, despite their benefits. We must do more to ensure access to lifesaving vaccines, particularly for children. 👴 👵 65+ - at this age, people are particularly vulnerable to infectious diseases like flu, COVID-19, pneumococcal pneumonia and RSV. Vaccines can help them prevent serious illness that could result in hospitalization or death. ❤️🩹  1.5 million additional lives could be saved globally each year, just by improving access to existing vaccines. #WorldImmunizationWeek isn’t just about celebrating the successes of vaccines – it’s about building on those successes and fighting to protect the hard-fought gains we’ve made against vaccine-preventable diseases. Thank you to everyone at Pfizer and the global health community focused on vaccine innovation in one way or another. You personally inspire me every day. Please take a moment to celebrate the impact of your work and leave a comment on what vaccines mean to you. Most importantly, make sure to keep your own vaccination status up to date, no matter your age! #VaccinesWork #HumanlyPossible #AlwaysInnovating
