New peer-reviewed paper published on comparing international HTA reforms. Changes to Health Technology Assessment (HTA) methods and processes are important as they impact patient access to treatments and R&D investments. Stakeholders need to understand HTA reforms to identify opportunities for engagement and inform their evidence-generation plans. This paper focuses on how HTA systems have evolved in over a decade and the interdependencies among 14 HTA agencies in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America.  We found that:  🔹HTA method guides have become more structured, with variability across jurisdictions.  🔹Canada's Drug Agency, NICE - National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, and PBAC (Australia) have been catalysts of HTA reforms as well as internationally influential.   🔹The three most important drivers to reforms have been: HTA practice and guidelines in other countries; the healthcare policy, legal and political context; and experience of challenges in the assessment by the HTA body itself. Great discussions today about the application of the #HTA competency framework with members of the stakeholder forum in Budapest. It is soon to be published and will be used to develop training programs on innovative HTA methods and tools as part of SUSTAIN-HTA

The European Health Data Space Regulation is now published in the Official Journal! It will apply from 26 March 2027, and some of its parts later. For instance, the EU-wide exchange of the first priority categories of personal electronic health data its to be launched by 26 March 2029. https://lnkd.in/e3cztywz

#EHDS European Health Data Space Regulation finally published in the #OJ What is the European Health Data Space (EHDS)? The European Health Data Space is a health specific ecosystem comprised of rules, common standards and practices, infrastructures and a governance framework that aims at: 1. Empowering individuals through increased digital access to and control of their electronic personal health data, at national level and EU-wide. 2. Fostering a single market for electronic health record systems, relevant medical devices and high risk AI systems. 3. Providing a trustworthy and efficient set-up for the use of health data for research, innovation, policy-making and regulatory activities (secondary use of data). The European Health Data Space is a key pillar of the European Health Union. It builds further on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the NIS 2 Directive.
