• An abundance of exotic partners may boost our pleasure drive. • Without the prying eyes of our social circle, it’s easier to let your hair (or pants) down. • Cultural expectations stop interfering with our desires. Unless you’re traveling in very open-minded circles, sex with another member of our in-group is always a game of he-knows-she-knows. She knows he knows girls who ask for anal are supersluts; he knows she knows if he asks for anal, she’ll have to blush and giggle and at least ask for another date. So they preemptively settle on doggy as a compromise.

None of these limitations exist in our little vacation universes and as a result, intimacy is a lot easier to come by.
