Ok everyone! Mark has stated to me via email that this site is about free speech and we can talk about nude/topless cuddling all we want in the forums as long as we don't engage in it with each other as members of CC. So let's bring the discussion out in to the open then.

My view: I lived in Germany for 3+ years and your garden variety female exam is done in tbe nude. I've been to the Moulin Rouge in Paris where the dancers are all-but nude. So let's first of all shelve the thought that I'm not open-minded.

Since the site is fairly a free-for-all, officially from The Power that Be, here we go:

If I could find someone I trust enough to cuddle nude with (they'd have to be a romantic partner, not a "cuddle buddy" which is platonic), I'd so be into that. It's normal. It's natural. And, I'm in Texas, so yeah it's 97 degrees out and nude would be great.

I'm going to get in early here for the benefit of new users in case this thread is referenced in the future.

This website allows for respectful and honest debate on all cuddling related topics. This is essential for any community and also vital for a young industry that we are all helping to shape and evolve.

This website does not allow public or private requests for nude cuddling and doing so will get you banned. Discussing it on the forum in a way that encourages rule breaking is also not allowed.

I hope most people here are agreeable to that position but if not, this topic is now the perfect place to debate it.

Sounds reasonable, though I'd like to ask what exactly the thread's about? Is it discussing whether we should talk about nude cuddling on here, or the boundaries of it, or differing perspectives due to upbringing? They all sound like fun discussions, but this could end up jumping all over the place (unless that's the purpose lol, in which case, neat)

It seems to me that the real issue is "skin hunger," and that need not be an all-or-nothing deal.  One need not be stark naked to get meaningful skin-to-skin contact. You can even do it without violating CC rules of conduct. The idea that a pair of strangers can cuddle naked in bed without things turning sexual strikes me as ... unrealistic to say the least. 

Honestly, I think the likeliest outcome of a thread like this is that it will sully the squeaky clean image we are trying to create for platonic cuddling, that "young industry that we are all helping to shape and evolve."

Considering an erection is a common and natural response to cuddling, nude cuddling seems ill-advised to say the least.

I am confused? It is illegal to take off one's pants when cuddling? This reminds me of the sex scene from Coneheads lol

@manticorp The discussion seemed to need (and have) no direction in the other discussion..so it's about whatever re: nude cuddling within CC guidelines, and I guess whatever the heck else you want to mention? Now we have an official thread about it instead of it being hidden.

You can even copy/paste what you had posted prior--move it over here for an honest, open discussion.

I have rarely cuddled nude and it has always been with a significant other. Otherwise, I prefer clothed. There's also the fact that I'm getting older and my body isn't as great as it used to be. Lol and I would never, ever have considered it to be "great" to begin with.

I am a long time nudist, and would have no problem cuddling someone nude if that is what they wanted, but in keeping with the rules here, it would have to be with someone not on this site.

Obviously each partner or individual would be situational.  I could nude cuddle a close friend/cuddle buddy that I have developed a close bond with, without sexual expectations.  However, I know there are others that cannot.  So this is a situational situation.  

In my experience, nude cuddling has been more symbolic than comfortable. Most undergarments are designed to provide support for the parts they cover, or to provide outer clothing protection from sweat and stains that the body naturally makes. Comfort and cleanliness are the main benefits of undergarments over being nude.

I have an internet girlfriend in Texas who asked me for a nude photo.  I have been nude a lot in my lifetime, but i have never had a nude photo taken before today.  I have a poly friend who is a professional photographer who graciously agreed to photograph me.  I spent around 2 hours at her apartment where we took pictures, talked a lot, and cuddled for a while.  The cuddle was with me still nude, and she was clothed.  We were both very comfortable with the situation.  It was a platonic cuddle, and clothes or no clothes made no difference.  I believe this is something that could only happen between friends, and would not recommend it between strangers, unless it is part of a supervised experiment like the one I posted in another thread.

Nothing wrong with non-pressured nude cuddling as long as both parties agree to it before hand. If you are not in an temperature controlled environment the perspiration can be uncomfortable. I too have had some nudes taken before and cuddled with a partner during the same session. It was nothing sexual, it was just the enjoyment of holding another individual while enjoying the moment. She was comfortable with it so it was a pleasant experience. I think the key is to respect the other person and make them feel comfortable during the session.  And yes, my picture was cropped from one of those photos. Never can tell from it unless I mentioned it. Just be respectful and considerate of the person.

Clothed or nude, it doesn't matter to me.  As long and we agree on boundaries up front, and stick to them.  I am a gentleman, and I ALWAYS try to stick to her boundaries. 

I have had a couple of platonic topless cuddles, and they were terrific, and they stayed platonic (for the most part).  Spooning topless is one of those priceless, unforgettable opportunities, in my humble opinion.

I don't think the Daily Mail article particularly broke the rules but it was removed. I spoke to Jim privately at the time and just respectfully warned him about posting a dedicated thread for a single article that touched on a sensitive subject for this community. He happily took my recommendation that going forward such articles should be framed tactfully, in the spirit of this website and kept in an existing thread rather than overexposure from a dedicated one. 

While we disagree on the rules here, I am sorry to see you leave and hope you'll come back some day.

I personally thought the article is great and the experiment just awesome and it was done tastefully, it was not gratuitous at all. The people involved in it showed that once you get past the toplessness the sense of intimacy grows and they were no longer topless people cuddling just people cuddling and sharing a nice moment.
i am one for rules, always have been but they don't exist in a vacuum and to remove this video because of them would have done a disservice to everyone here and that's why judgement was applied and now everybody can see it and benefit from it.
Last but not least i think that sometimes in forums like these there are really loud voices and they try to speak for everybody and make their opinion really count when I think this forum should be one where we can just discuss the various topics openly and freely.
Not long ago one of those really loud voices left and things have been more peaceful and discussion has flowed more freely and I haven't seen any spats in a while so we must be headed in the right direction.

Well, I'm fine with nude cuddling in a committed, romantic relationship. But I would never expect it from a platonic cuddle buddy. So I'm not really sure how it's relevant here... if I wanted that, I would go to a dating site.

@masterofcuddle You missed my post at the top. You can discuss it on this thread but you are not allowed to engage in it.

For example, being allowed to post a scientific study on oxytocin and sex isn't permission to go asking everyone for sex. 

I would actually prefer none of us talk about this subject at all. I'm acting against my own personal opinion because I don't feel comfortable censoring a respectful and mature discussion about a cuddling related topic on an open forum.

@Mark, thank you for permitting the thread!  I agree with you that nude cuddle requests have no place on this site but also am a strong supporter open discussion from diverse viewpoints.  I see no possible way that an internet site could offer nude cuddling connections between strangers in a way that is honestly platonic.

I have no problem with nude platonic cuddling though I also recognize that I am perhaps a bit unusual in this regard. To me, nudity is not necessarily sexual, nude touch is similarly not necessarily sexual.  Even arousal is not necessarily sexual, just an indication of a combination of relaxation and happiness combined with excitement and/or connection.  All this said, I would never consider asking someone here for nude cuddling and would probably not even suggest it to a cuddle buddy until we were already friends offline with a very good understanding of each other's needs and boundaries.  And likely never with a pro no matter how good an understanding we feel we have.

Some people have expressed concern about arousal, erections, and the situation turning sexual.  This is a very valid concern! If someone cannot separate sexual from platonic then nude cuddling is probably a bad idea.  Clothed cuddling may not even be a good idea in some cases, as indicated by "bad experience" stories shared elsewhere on this site, particularly by pros.

I think that nude cuddling should be reserved for intimate relationships. I am fine with it if I am in a serious relationship with the person but not otherwise. To state the obvious, when cuddling sometimes an erection does happen. It is up to both parties to be professional about it and not draw attention to it.   I can only imagine how awkward that situation would be while nude. I would be very uncomfortable if someone that I was platonically cuddling with wanted to do nude cuddling and would question their motives. Unfortunately there are some people who have hidden agendas for sex and will book for platonic cuddling service when they should be using an escort service instead.

@Italianmale - I agree, but it seems like we are in the minority here.

Perhaps there are cuddle police who have hidden cameras in all cuddlers apartments, ready to punish the offenders.  I mean seriously, how do you police what two consenting adults do, and why should we care?

I think it's up to the cuddlers - I try not to judge anyone else based on my own value system.  Yes, I' aware that this s a platonic cuddling site, and I'm sure 99% of the cuddlers abide by the rules, and those who don't are either banned or move on to other pastures.

@CarlosHunt I understand that if people meet via this website they can ultimately do whatever they want assuming it's consensual and agreed offline. The rules in this respect are not for knocking down your doors. They are partly to help reduce unpleasant online exchanges that no doubt push away genuine members. And they also help protect the platonic image of this website to the outside world where this community and concept suffers from misconceptions. That in turn also helps deter troublesome members from joining, members that are getting banned every single day as it is.  

This threads existence therefore is somewhat of a paradox but hopefully a worthwhile sacrifice.
