Reviews

“I’ve always liked games like Majesty, and Lessaria is meant to be the successor for those games. And honestly, I think it’s an excellent game in that regard. Not only does it manage to take the core fantasy kingdom simulation gameplay, but it adds its own twists, great buildings and a wonderful hero system.”
9/10 – Softpedia

“A follower of the classic real-time strategy game Majesty, which has a unique approach to hero management, successfully embarks on adventurous quests to which you are invited.”

Refunded due to misleading description stating that you can "relax in sandbox mode."

There is no sandbox mode. As far as I can tell there is no plan to add a sandbox mode, either. There's a survival mode that's endless, but it's, well, survival (i.e. waves of enemies until you lose) that always takes place on the same map with zero customization options according to what others have said in Discussions.

If you don't care about a sandbox experience, it might be worth getting still. I'm just refunding it since it specifically states having sandbox, and that was my main reason to purchase the game.

Last mission is one of the biggest fails ever!!!! It goes against everything that made this game great. Like I want to build and farm and grow. Not memorize and make choices that impact the outcomes. Stop trying to invent the wheel and remember your roots.

When I finished last mission in Majesty I really wanted more of the game. It was so frustrating, that it just ended. This is almost a fan made project...considering modern agenda, creating such unpopular games is very hard for small developers. I don't understand why people leave bad reviews about the game, complaining that this is not majesty. Yes it is not! It's a tribute by new developers to it. Quit reviewing it comparing to another game. Review it as a game, which made you feel nostalgic and had fun playing it. Yes it lacks a lot from majesty, but the fact that devs could do this is already a big thanks from me. Dear devs, don't be discouraged. Thank you very much for your hard work and bringing Lessaria to live. Thank you, that you made something, what made Majesty live on

Majesty ! I didnt know i had a hole in my heart till i found this, its so good. They even got the same narrator, it brought a tear of joy to my old eyes. Thank you for reviving a great game without screwing it up. This is exactly how you do it.

Runs well on the Steam Deck. I have had a lot of fun with the campaign but is still missing the replay factor like a sandbox mode, but they did note this feature was in the works.

It's Majesty 3 pretty much. Nostalgic as hell and the devs are still very active. Loving the experience so far.

As many other reviews, and the game's own description says, this game very much is inspired by Majesty (in a good way). The campaign is fun, the hero variety at launch is decent to good, reward flags are useful, the way the economy is generated has an interesting spin to it, and overall plays well.

My only major critiques currently are replayability and the lack of a graveyard. The first they are working on with what sounds like a fun sandbox mode, two new (restored) campaign missions, as well as a new campaign DLC later on. The second, I have absolutely no idea why a graveyard system hasn't been put in yet. Majesty 1 with its expansion had it, and so did Majesty 2. I would just really like to see the ability to resurrect our heroes while also having the threat of undead come from said graveyard.

Some more feedback to read at your leisure (and mostly for the devs).
  • A variant of the Temple of Krypta would be awesome. I always love playing with the Necromancer type. I know we have demon summoning in this game, but I just miss our favorite Priestess's of Krypta.
  • More monster variety as time goes on. I like the enemy wave mechanic, but it starts to become a bit predictable and samey as time goes on. I know the game is limited right now with the number of monsters available, but having it be a bit more unpredictable as to what you are about to face would be cool.
  • I think the sewer system should be a bit more like Majesty's, where you can have multiple enemies come out of them instead of 1 every time.
  • Tradeposts are too rare in missions and too slow to be of real use.
  • I don't see why I shouldn't be able to place buildings anywhere outside of the immediate castle area. If I want to build a defense tower by a trade post in the middle of no where, I don't see why not? Further, sometimes I just like to let a mission run for a while, even if it affects my star rating at the end of the mission. That means available wood/stone/iron tends to dry up. There's typically plenty of wood out in the wilderness, why can't I put a lumber post out there? Still would need to set up a guard tower to collect taxes with (maybe you also have to set up a small castle or something in the area to balance?)
  • More party slots. Unless there is a performance reason, I don't see why we should be limited to 6 party's.
  • More late game threats in general. We have the wave system sure, but in between waves there's not really any sort of threat to deal with 95% of the time in the late game. And even with the wave system, you have to wait a while for it to get to 5 skulls before the big bad boss dragon shows up (which is good in the early to mid game aspect). Maybe more waves of enemies the longer the mission goes on or based on average hero level?
  • Something that Majesty didn't really have but wouldn't mind seeing evolved in this one, more hero requirements to fulfill their needs. I'm not sure what exactly, but just more stuff to lean into the sim aspect.

Overall, I do recommend this a lot one if you liked Majesty or the like the appeal of an RTS where you don't control the hereos directly. The devs seem to be eager to keep the game updated with their road map available. I hope for their continued success and a long development life for this game with hopefully many campaign DLC's!

It's entertaining, but fyi it still feels like it is early access content rather than a completed game. I also wonder how much of this is AI generated content. Some of the voice lines don't match the text, and the units constantly get stuck. It has potential and I hope the developers continue to fix things and add more to it. I bought in on sale rather than full price, but I still think it should have be at a lower price with the issues it has. However, I did enjoy myself suck a few hours into it.

It's good. Definitely the heir apparent of the Majesty series.
-
Pros: It's more Majesty, some innovative ideas like portals and training grounds, and a smooth learning curve.
-
Cons: The least interesting of Majesty games. The economy sub-game that was critical to certain levels in old school Majesty has been gutted. The faction guilds are so similar in class ability and function, it's not an interesting choice. Removal of archery damage vs melee, again makes early class choices for countering certain mob types inconsequential. Game is still has map breaking bugs.
-
Overall, still a good game. I look forward to an expansion.

A decent game but to many bugs: Mission softlocks if you do objectives in the wrong order. Missions complete but you dont get credit on the mission list so have to repeat if you didn't save/autosave. Loading your game doesn't save everything so portals and upgrades disappear.

I never played majesty so apparently I missed something special, I did play this however and wow, why does this have a very positive review score? It doesn't deserve it, it's a massively buggy mess which often fails to complete a mission if you do anything even slightly outside of a scripted event or path plan. E.G you are given a task to scout to find a spider lair, you weren't sure how it all worked and ended up just destroying the damn thing instead. Level stuck have to restart, the same mission, the win trigger just forgets to happen leaving you playing for an hour trying to figure out what you were supposed to do and so on. There are a lot of unecessary walker units going around and getting stuck everywhere which does glue up the whole process.

It's not ready to go, it needs a lot of under the hood work, there are a multitude of annoying ways to break the game which really removes any of the fun it might have provided.Dev team is also not very responsive or communicative, someone actually had to make a guide on how to edit their stupid text file to get past the my mission broke, whoops.

It feels like Steam has become a bot review fest to boost sales.

Good potential, but not playable.
An absolute buggy mess.

NPCs get stuck everywhere, savegames get corrupted (and downgrading all my buildings to the Tier 1 form), Campaign Progress is not saved upon finishing the previous one.

But hey. It has Twitch Integration: That was important....

The moment the opening cinematic ends and that phone-screen animation pops up, you can already tell it’s going downhill. The game just isn’t fun. The controls feel unresponsive, clicking on anything is a chore, and half the time animations block your view so you can’t even see what you’re trying to interact with.

The advisor won’t shut up and quickly becomes so irritating that muting them is the only option. There’s also a huge lack of basic quality-of-life features — you can’t double-click lumberjacks or their buildings to select them all, which is something every game in this genre should have by now.

Balancing is a mess. Spells feel ridiculously weak, and the tutorial doesn’t do much to explain anything meaningful. Overall, it’s a frustrating experience from the first minute onward.

LOVE THE IDEA but this aint it!

Too many bugs.

Game seems nice at first, especially if you liked playing Majesty, it feels very similar. Has some pros and cones, would be a good game if not bugs.
And those bugs are terrible, even few weeks after launch, there are unpassable missions (bugged objective trigger), graphic pink square glitches, heroes are stucking...

Games should not be released in this state.
