Fannie & Freddie, Toxic Twins No More No More?
Allow me to introduce you to the Toxic Twins – Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Seventeen years ago, the government absorbed the mortgage giants to save them from insolvency.
The common stocks of each were delisted from the NYSE on July 8, 2010.
Ever since, those same common shares have traded on the over-the-counter markets known as the “pink sheets.”
Both companies began filing SEC Form 10Ks and 10Qs in 2012. With such information in hand, investors began analyzing and agonizing, waiting and hoping. And over the years, the day just never came.
The day, however, seems to be, finally, nearly upon us.
