UH quarterback Conner Weigman plans to return for a second and final season with the Cougars in 2026.

Quarterback Conner Weigman said he plans to return to the University of Houston for his final season of eligibility in 2026.

“For sure, that’s the plan,” Weigman said Tuesday as the No. 21 Cougars began bowl preparations for the Dec. 27 Kinder’s Texas Bowl against LSU at NRG Stadium. “This is the city of Houston; this is my home. I love the coaches.”

While there hadn’t been any serious talk of a possible departure, Weigman’s return offers a veteran presence and mentor for Keisean Henderson, the No. 1 prospect in the nation who will enroll in January.

In his first season at UH following an offseason transfer from Texas A&M, Weigman helped lead the Cougars to a 9-3 record and first bowl appearance in three years.

Healthy for the entire 12-game schedule, Weigman threw for 2,475 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also had 644 rushing yards and team-high 11 touchdowns.

Weigman has been in contact with Henderson throughout the recruiting process.

“He’s a special player,” Weigman said of Henderson. “He can do it all, throw the ball, run the ball. He’s can literally do whatever he wants on the field. He’s a special person and we can hang out off the field. I can’t wait for him to be here.”
