I’m interested in supporting Kdenlive’s development and was wondering whether it’s possible to donate specifically toward implementing a particular feature.
One example I’d love to see is a Final Cut Pro X–style theme.
Is this a highly experimental software or something?
I recently started making videos for YouTube and found Kdenlive to be rather helpful. I am enjoying learning how to use it and it has been a decent experience so far. EXCEPT for one thing. It just randomly decides to either slow down the system severely or freeze entirely.
Are there any best practices to avoid this? I was really hoping that a year from now, I'd become so skilled at this software from daily use.
Hi all
I'm wondering is the following available in Kdenlive.
The situation is the following.
I have loads of clips of our babies, I want to create the following.
-
Look at a folder of the videos.
-
Use the meta data in the video to put it in to the timeline.
-
Create a title video snippet on the timeline before the the video, with the date of the video.
Essentially I'd like to get a timeline that I could adjust, but the heavy lifting of getting the videos in to KdenLive and get a Title for each video snippet in order.
I hope I've explained this ok.
Thanks
P
I just wanted to say thanks to this subreddit… I am at the end of an eight month project of digitizing my husband’s childhood home movies. I found kdenlive as I wanted to clean up the files that had a lot of emptiness at the end. I had never used editing software before and this sub helped with a lot of my dumb-dumb questions. Instead of just clipping the end of some of the videos for cleanup, I spent the last six months putting 80ish tapes in chronological order by year, and doing intros and endings with help from his family. I was able to record an audio track of him and his 94 year old grandmother doing commentary on one of the video files. It was possible because 99% of my questions had answers on here. It was truly rewarding… Thanks to this subreddit.
I've got myself in a pickle. I imported a file into Kdenlive that has one video track and three audio tracks. I cut unneeded footage throughout the video, keeping all four tracks grouped and synced. Life is good.
Then I decide that two of the audio tracks sound like rubbish, so I import them into Ardour, do some EQ, and export them as a single audio file.
Now it's time to replace the two rubbish audio tracks in Kdenlive with the single, improved audio track. But how? I might be able to manually make the exact same edits in the improved audio file that I did in the original audio files, but is there a faster way? I know about replacing one clip in the project bin with another, but Kdenlive won't let me do that here, possibly because the original audio tracks all belong to the same clip. Somebody help!
hi all,
i decided to switch to kdenlive from capcut because i did not agree with their policies and paywalling effects. i am using version 25.08.3 on a windows 11 pc, that i instaleld using the official package.
i would like to know if there was a way to just flatly zoom into a part of a video clip without the video panning towards it. can i do it using the transform tool, or does that require a plugin/addon?
there is no settings so how to animate it with keyframes or any setting changes and is there gonna be an update that will have it ? (i am trying to use it as a alternative for motion blur when an object is moving )
i keep having this UI problem on the preview screen.
the wallpaper is bleeding into the preview UI.
I tried to see how to enlarge my video on a corner of an image of my video but it is nowhere to be found unlike Filmora. Can anyone help me how to enlarge on a specific corner of my video directly on the image
I filmed a talking head video with an "infinite black" background. How could I remove the black and add something else behind me, such as a picture, etc? In other words, can this be done with a black background much like you could easily do with a "green screen" behind you? thanks
When editing, I have a number of effects in my favorites tab that I use very frequently, but it's annoying that the effects menu always starts collapsed. I have to expand each category one by one. Also, if I filter the effects in any way (eg. search for an effect or press a button like "show all video effects"), it'll re-collapse all the menus outside of the filter results. This behavior is very irritating. Is there any way to prevent this?
I'm new to this program, and after a couple of tries I can't seem to make a clean green screen/mask when I render my project. I used the rotoscoping tool and made a green screen background (literally - used ms paint for the color and made a PNG) and I have no idea what else to do to make it look neat and stop stray green pixels from showing up when I use Chroma Keying.
I would really appreciate clear instruction/step-by-step process.
EDIT 1: I'm also trying to keep the black pixels/boxes from appearing around flounder, who I made a mask of, when I add a background
Motion tiles like in after effects with mirror
so whenever i put a clip or image in my software nothing shows up here. I even waited 3 hours to see if it was loading but it just doesnt pop up
EDIT: Had to download the AppImage
I'm using Kdenlive version 25.08.3 on Linux Mint
My project folder has a load of folders with numbers instead of names.
How do I stop them appearing and cluttering up my file manager?
Why don't they have useful folder names instead of just numbers that mean nothing?
I'm having an issue where after a video is fully rendered and I go to play the video, at the end of the video there is audio but there will be a large section without any video and it just be a black screen. I'll then have to reopen the project and the program will have shortened the pictures's lengths and at the end of the project it's just empty space [in the video section] but the audio will be there. I'll have to then lengthen the pictures again and re-render the video. How can I stop this issue?
I want to say I love your software. Thank you devs for the great work. I was wonder if you guys ever thought of implementing a "search actions" feature sort of like Gimp's. Using the key "/" will bring up a search by autocomplete fuzzy search by each letter for almost every action available in the program. It's been a huge life saver for me lol. Just a thought. Thanks.
I've run in to this wierd condition in Kdenlive 24.12.3
System:
IB Pro 14 Gen10 AMD Ryzen AI 9 365
Tuxedo OS 24.04.3
kernel 6.14.0-116036-tuxedo
I'm recording audio with mic plugged in to 3.5mm port on left side of laptop
I add another track for recording and make sure it is using the correct Mic. Sample rate is default, 48000 hz
When I start audio recording, everything appears normal, but when I stop the recording, the .wav file is a fraction of the length of the recording. The recording is heavily fragmented, honestly it is so short and fragmented it is unusable (48000 hz sample rate).
When I use Audacity for same recording, it is normal.. no issues. I export the recording to *wav and use it in Kdenlive where it plays back normally. BTW sample rate in Audacity is 48000 hz
When I switch Kdenlive audio sample rate to 44100 hz, records normally.
Since I do Tuxedo system updates as they come in, can I update just Kdenlive without breaking anything? It is pretty far behind the latest version, 25.08.3.x via Flatpack, but that's the price for LTS support.
Application: kdenlive
Version: 25.08.2
OS: Windows 11 Version 24H2
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core processor
memory: 16 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB.
When rendering one of my big projects, it fails to render halfway through. There is no specification of any error. It usually goes like this:
Started render process: C:/Program Files/kdenlive/bin/melt.exe -loglevel error -progress2 C:/Users/(user)/AppData/Local/Temp/kdenlive-(tempfile).mlt
Attempts render the frames.
Rendering of D:/(user)/(video).mp4 aborted, resulting video will probably be corrupted.
And the error log literally gives zero explanation of why it was aborted. I believe the mouse also turns into the "Working in Background" briefly, which is usually a sign that a program crashes and exits.
I'd like to cut a project on one computer and render it on another. What's the best approach? Is it enough to simply keep all the files in one folder from the start? Or should I consider something else?
