ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WFRV) — Cinnabon has confirmed that an employee at one of its Wisconsin stores has been fired in response to a widely shared video that it described as “disturbing.”

In a response to the video on X on Saturday, Cinnabon wrote the employee was “immediately” fired by the franchise owner.

The video appears to have first been posted to TikTok by a woman who claimed she and her husband had stopped at the Cinnabon at Bay Park Mall in Ashwaubenon, near Green Bay, on Friday. She said the Cinnabon employee made a comment about her hijab before she started recording.

In the video, which does contain offensive language, the employee can be heard describing herself as “a racist.”

“We’ve seen the disturbing video from the Cinnabon bakery in Ashwaubenon, WI, and we do not condone this behavior. The former employee was immediately terminated by the franchise owner,” the company wrote in response to the video on X and in another TikTok post by a woman who described herself as the cousin of the initial poster. “Their actions do not reflect our values or the welcoming experience every guest deserves.”

In a GoFundMe posted by the woman’s cousin, the couple was described as black Somali Muslims.
