I need to do this more. I need to perform more, but that's beside the point. I'm coming around to your perspective on things. Your point about the invisible deck and ACAAN being the same trick shouldn't be controversial. It's exactly correct. I think you could (ironically?) re-frame your go-to ACAAN and have it not be as much of a sticking point with other magicians, and maybe be a stronger effect with spectators. There's a disconnect in your presentation between the cut and the number. If you frame the cut as "picking a number between 1 and 52 using the deck", or something similar, it would bridge the gap between the final count and the procedure that led up to that. My current go-to CAAN is a variation of a trick from Hatton and Plate's Magicians Tricks that I found in The Very Best of John Carey. I'd tell you the page number, but I can't find it now.
Interesting video, but I feel like you would agree that there is such a huge difference between performing for strangers vs performing for family/friends when it comes to many of the psychological forcing and what you can "get away with" in terms of framing and whatnot (as the latter will not hesitate to call you out while the former can politely give you a false sense of confidence). So, my question would be: are you justifying these things for the magician, the spectator, or the greater magic community? I don't think spectator cares enough, so I assume it is either for the performer or the peer group. Which begs the question - who are we fooling?

Great content, as always. Just here to commend the desk lamp on all the hard work it’s doing for your composition.
